I've been suffering from weird abdominal painsfor over 2 years now. The hospital have been toying with the idea of visceral hyperalgesia, and now they're saying I *could* have an on/off appendicitis. That's if it exists. So do you guys believe in them or do you think it's either one or the other? Also, could anyone please remind me of the medical term for this?

A 'grumbling appendix' is common, and can cause irregular pain and discomfort for years without actually rupturing.

The idea of chronic appendicitis and the debate as to whether it exists has been around for at least 50 years.
In my view, it has to be a real entity. A percentage of appendices removes are fibrosed. This means they must have been inf lammed over a prolonged period.

i had appendicitis when i was 9 and it totally screwed me up. It feels like really bad gas and kills when you try and pee. The thing with appendicitis is if you leave it too long the appendix can explode releasing toxins into your body killing you so get it checked out but i personally son't think its that.

I think possibly you have appendicitis, but it does not always exhibit the symptoms. Best to have it removed if that is the case.

hey, i have never heard of that but i have heard of grumbling appendics, not sure if this is the same thing, hope u get sorted soon!!

In my day it was called a grumbling appendix. I ended up having it out.

yes it it .i had several bouts of pain and sickness and was told it was appendicitis by the doctor .
