i've had that. it's hard to have anxiety attacks and live day by day. i recently was put on Lexapro for it. Lexapro is an anti-depressant/anxiety pill. it was so bad my left arm would go numb when i was out and about.
Lexapro works within 4 days, little or no side effects, and is easy on the body. Try it out! It's a Godsend. Ask your doctor or some samples.

Very brave of you!!! I wish that I had the courage back then to do that. I commuted to school and couldn't even consider a dorm due to SA .. you are fortunate and one step ahead of the game. Go for it .... where there is a will, there is a way!
Social anxiety can cause these feelings, which can also lead to severe depression,
http://www.socialanxietyinstitute.org/ds...
if not you could be suffering from Generalized Anxiety
Disorder..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/general_anx...
There is hope; I've been there, and still am there, it is a long, hard struggle. I recommend
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cognitive_b... worked best for me, with mild anti-anxiety meds. I suffered from social anxiety for over 15 years. I've tried individual therapy, and group therapy and studied psychology for 10 years, as a profession, but also with the hope to cure myself.
Depending on your comfort level, you could go to a psychologist that practices CBT and specializes in anxiety disorders, seek a group therapy, or create one. Usually those that do attend the group therapy are a bit more high functioning because as you know, it can be difficult to speak in a group.
Another idea is to see if there are any local research studies being conducted that you could participate in.
The program that finally worked the best for me is this one: http://www.socialanxiety.us/findinghelp.... and I was lucky enough to have a structured behavioral group to go along with it. Sometimes the people that actually attend this program come back home and form groups.
I recommend a mild anti-anxiety med in addition to CBT therapy.
Any questions, let me know ... I can't tell you how much this has improved my life!

Take a step back-(maybe two)-to unfold why you are anxious.I know that highschool is a pressure cooker! Feel free to unwind for a bit. Travel and/or liesure will rune the pressure! My time in college was great-'cause I chose to wander a bit about! I kept a good moral perspective for some years to incite a healthy respect for teachings ahead! I was soooooo ready to define my taste and direction for the next 10 years after this small interlude. It was the interlude that gave me rest and perspective for insight to the way forward! I'm as passionate now -(20 years later) as I know I'll be forever!

Not when I was in college...then and for YEARS afterward I was VERY SOCIAL.
I went through a lot of trauma (physical, emotional, relationship) that caused mine...you may need medication along with the counseling. I did both for years with good results, went off the meds (no insurance) and now the disorder has returned to some extent

I am single mum. I have been suffering for panic attacks for some 15 years now, though it was not until recently I understood what they were. They were progressively getting stronger and more frequent, stopping me from some days even leaving my house. I read this book and it all made perfect sense.
I am not saying I was not terrified of putting theory to action, I was more scared of that than the next attack! But I decided to view it as a game, one I had control of and could therefore not lose!

College is a wonderful, exciting place. One suggestion: Get involved in a campus organization. Pick one in which you have some interest. Almost all campus organizations especially welcome new members who are willing to do the routine, grunt work of the organization.
