FASTING ON RAMANAVAMI -
The birth anniversary of Lord Rama is celebrated as Ramanavami in the Hindu month of Chaitra (March-April). In South India, offerings to the deity include sugar candy, a sweet drink called Panagam, and a few spring products. This is in significance to the fact that Rama when he was in exile took only simple food available in the forest. People observe a fast on Ramanavami and go to the temples. Poor people are given food and other gifts in kind who otherwise can not afford it. In fact you have to take this panakam (Candy dissolved in water) and Neermoore (diluted Butter Milk), even if you are fasting.
I too observed fasting yesterday but I had to take my medicines with water and coffee. If you are sure of getting headache if you do not take coffee you can take. Rama is a very kind God and he will not mind and take care of his devotees for such small lapses. It is enough you have full Bhakti in your mind and heart and have the wish to observe fasting.-

It is bad or wrong only if you think it breaks your promise of fasting, there are other ways to get caffeine, energy drinks and mountain dew are loaded with it. But remembering that the question applies to these as well. There is no mention of what is fasted during this celebration of the Sun, so I would recommend to follow your heart and it will lead you to the right answer. Don't ask us because we are a bunch of nincompoops.

I would advise against it, personally. Try just water, but if you are bound to get a migraine if you don't get your coffee, I think Ram will forgive you for that.
