The insurance companies forward information to DMV, so (theoretically) it will match up (and it'll show up on the MDTs). But that's only as good as the info sent by the insurance companies and entered by DMV.
You still need to have proof of insurance with you. I won't be calling an insurance agent, as that is going to be wasting my time - besides, I don't know who is on the other end of the phone call.

Yes. The new system is linked to the name & number of your drivers license & the vehicle license plate number & VIN of the vehicle! The good old days of phoney insurance cards are gone because it's all NOW in the central computer system & you don't want to get caught with a fraudulent insurance card that doesn't match up for verification when the Officer "calls" it in!

Yes they can. If you don't have insurance the DMV will be contacted as will who ever holds the loan on your car. It is easy for the police to thus check if your insurance is up to date.

they will know as soon as the run the plates on the car the computer information will right away tell if the car insurance is in effect
