you know, it's not like countries are claiming those things, they just happen to get embedded into the culture, and they become a part of the folklore.

BTW - reggeaton might be a Puerto Rican thing (although there were many artists in other countries rapping in spanish before reggeaton exploted), but it has spread throughout Latin America, Mexico is not claiming it they're just enjoying it.

The name Chupa Cabra was coined in Puerto Rico, but the concept of a "beast" sucking the blood of animals goes back to Africa, the middle east, Europe, and Asia.

Puerto Ricans often have taken from other countries, but no country has not imitated or duplicated another. Ppl see a good thing and know to run with it. But PR in my opinion has very few orignal things of their own. As stated previously reggaeton originated in Panama and came from reggae which started in Jamaica, which has roots to Africa, which in the end doesnt it all go back to Africa anyways?!

CORRECTION: Panama created reggeton and don't you forget it ! The Chupacabra was always fake anyway no matter who started it.
