It will depend on where you want to build the church, The government is protecting the rifts between sensitive areas where trouble might occur. Predominantly Muslims areas are sensitive to this and oftentimes those rift escalate to a global conflict starting from the seemingly small matter of religious differences. It is not America where freedom is of paramount importance. It is Egypt a country that sounds democratic because of its great historical gifts to the world but sadly it will never be like America.

Who made up that stupid rumor??!
first of all, I'm an American Egyptian & I'm a Muslim & lived in
Egypt for many years.
So here’s the FACTS for those dummies just speaking from USA when they have never even stepped outside their neighborhood.
There’s no “Areas” for muslims & “Areas” for Christians. All the society blends together the mulims are 95% of the population & the remaining 5% live peacefully among them. They are not separated in zones so that you can’t build a church in the Islamic zone as that crap written above.
I went to school to a Christian School (Called St. George’s Collge) & although the managers & most teachers were Christians, we took Islamic religion lessons in the school & the Christians took the Christian religion lessons in the same school.
My school had three branches & everyone of them had it’s own “CHURCH”. Guess what there’s a lot of other Christian managed school like St. Peter & St. Joseph & many more.
My best friends over the years have been Christians & even my coworker today is a Christian.
Now regarding the approval, there’s an approval for everything in Egypt & most importantly areas of assembly where lots of people can meet & the same applies to mosques, churches, colleges or even clubs & it’s from the internal security affairs.
I do agree with the fact that Egypt is not truly democratic but the same rules apply to Muslims & Christians from family pension to police brutality.
And of course (even by logic) it’s not an Islamic teaching to harm non Muslims (even atheists) & if that was the case there wouldn’t be a single Christian in Egypt or other Islamic countries if (according to what you assume) Islam orders us to harm them. And by the way Islam in Arabic is the root word for Peace.
I just wanted to clear the picture & one more thing for those of you who gave those dumb answers, it’s too bad to be ignorant but what’s worse is making speculations based on your ignorance & finally, I lived in the US for a long time & I gotta say that the media over there is 100% biased. So get your information from somewhere else.

Yes it most certainly does, and that permission is virtually NEVER given!
It comes from the time that Egypt was part of the Ottoman empire and the Ottomans had the same policy in order to destroy Christianity. (That didn't work so they had to launch the horrible genocide of Christians in the Ottoman empire, most noticeably Turkey in 1918.
Now in Turkey for example for a Christian church to even FIX something takes permission from the government, which again is virtually never given. So if a roof develops a little leak, it can openly get bigger and bigger until the roof caves in and then the government condemns the building and comes in and converts it to a Mosque, or a hotel or a gas station!
I think a mere comparison of the freedom with which Muslims are allowed to establish mosques in a Christian country and the way that it is virtually impossible for Christians to establish churches in a Muslim country shows which religion is really secure in itself that it has the genuine answers.

For People Who say that we don't want extra church buildings, did you stroll by way of a church on Sunday or Friday morning & noticed that folks are quite status within the avenue to listen to the prayer comfortably considering the fact that the church is simply too crowded & there is no situation within?!! I did. And they requested for permission to make it greater & the governer refused, then requested to construct one more one & they are nonetheless pending for three or four years now & folks are nonetheless praying within the avenue!!! Do you suppose that after the prayes begins at 8am, I will have to be there at 6am to uncover a situation to be within!!!! And we uncover mosques at each and every nook!!! Isn't that oppression?!!! And the Muslim who stated that he is indignant by way of Christian symbols!!! Why? People who produce other religions offend you?!!! Why do you hate others? why do not you depart others by myself? Does praying & worshipping our Lord offend you?!! A practical query to be requested right here... Why in different nations Muslims are allowed to hope & worship God despite the fact that minority & in Egypt Christians are not? We pay attention all muslims' prayers five instances an afternoon & all over, on streets & on TV, why do not we whinge? considering the fact that we suppose that is it is their proper to take action despite the fact that we do not must be pressured to pay attention!!! Guys I'm so angery, so frusterated, so disenchanted... I wanna think unfastened to visit a church close by way of... There're entire villages with out a church buildings & so as to pray, folks will have to journey, on toes ofcourse, such a lot shouldn't have vehicles, for 10 Km!!! Is that reasonable?!!! And for the man who stated that Muslims are ninety two% & that makes Christians a minority, wherein did you get that quantity from esp that country wide counting software did not ask approximately faith, plus even though that used to be real, which is not, being a minority manner being of no rights?!!! We nonetheless do not hate Muslims, we simply wish to be dealt with similarly... BTW, I'm utterly aiding the brand new legislation that states that each one mosques & church buildings will have to have the equal rules related to constructing & maintainance... This is a well step foreward... Hope I have not indignant any one...
