Something easy to do that many people miss is drink more water! Many times people believe they are hungry when they are in fact thirsty. When you feel hungry, try having a glass of water. Wait 20-30 minutes, and if you're still hungry then go for it. Remember, we're supposed to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day (on average), and most people don't drink anywhere close to that.

Also, keep snack sized servings of foods you enjoy. Crackers, veggies, fruits, etc. If it is already prepped it will make you far more likely to eat that than things that aren't so healthy for you. Good luck! :)

Darlin, don't laugh but I'm dead serious - small blue salad plates. Psychologically blue curbs our appetites and salad plates are small so that when food is on the plate it makes our mind think we are consuming more food than we actually are. Weird, but it works.

When I eat out, I portion my meal in half and get a to-go box right away for the other half. That way my 1,000 calorie meal is only 500 today/500 tomorrow. Sometimes if I don't want to take it home I'll cover half in salt to be sure I won't mindlessly munch on it during conversation.

Switching from regular sugar to sugar substitute (lower caloric value, yet still sweet). Parked farther away from where I needed to go... using the stairs instead of the elevator, eating less red meat (fattiest content). Buy a really nice bicycle, encourages you to go on scenic exercise rides!

The simplest change is to rethink the idea of change. As creatures of habit, we have a predisposed resistance to change. We do like to please ourselves though, so, if you shift your "vision" from the "little picture" of soda to the "big picture" of feeling better and respecting your body more, what can you try to begin to do that will make you feel better and more valued by the only person who really matters, YOU!
