Will you just stay dead and be dust in a grave? Do you want to be like that?
Or will you live again? Jesus died on the cross so that we may live again like he did. He took the same route as someone who dies and went to the grave and rose from the dead. In john 3.16 it says

"For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son for whosoever believeth in Him shall not persih but have everlasting life."

No human can ever judge our hearts because whatever they think is absolutely wrong. Only God can judge us and see our hearts and see our true colors.
If you believe in Jesus and accept Him, He will grant you life! You don't have to stay dead in the dust!

For those of you who wonder why you want to live again...Why wouldn't you want to live again? Wouldn't you want to spend more time with your family and friends? Wouldn't you want to live where there exists no greed, no selfishness, no evil? You want proof...the bible...why is the most read/successful book ever?

Wouldn't you want to love others? Wouldn't you want to be loved for an eternity??? Wouldn't you want to spend an eternity with your brother or sister or friend or spouse and with everyone else forever?

There is no soul sleep of the righteous. The bible clearly says:
2Co 5:8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. (ESV Translation)

Only the damned sleep in their graves.
1Co 15:51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

Those that have died in Christ now reside in heaven as spiritual beings. Since Christ, the second person of the Godhead, has always existed, the elect of God have been known to Him before Christ actually walked the earth. So anyone who has died since the world began exists in heaven or in the grave as described above.

The spiritual bodies of the righteous will result from the joining of their heavenly natures with their resurrected bodies at the second coming of Christ at the final judgment.

Those that are damned will awake from their sleep to be judged and join Satan in their separation from God in Hell.
2Th 1:9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,

Wishing, hoping, praying is all very nice. Reality is even nicer, sooner or later it is going to "splat" us in the face, and this is especially so when we die.

It is my understanding that the soul is what makes us alive, and that when it dies, we die. The spirit goes on living, awaiting for the resurrection of the body and soul. I like to see the soul as the life of the body, the natural life of the body. The spirit is the real you.

The spirit makes the soul alive, just as the soul makes the body alive. The way that I look at it is that after the Judgement, the sinner's spirit dies, and that this why it is called the Second Death -- their body and soul are sent to hell. Those who are righteous, their spirits are strengthened and made to live forever with God. The soul and body is recreated and united with this spirit.

When a human being dies... the soul leaves the body... the present manifestation forever. Unlike Jesus Christ who resurrected after three days... no human being can ever come back in the same body after the soul has liberated.

The liberated soul shall manifest a body in the next manifestation. This new body... this new manifestation would not have any connection with the previous manifestation... unlike what happened in the case of Jesus Christ. The rising of the Jesus Christ on the third day after the crucifixion is no simple deed... such deeds can be exercised by enlightened beings alone... those who have reached the stage of salvation.

Every soul after the death of the body waits for another body. In absence of which it rests in heaven or hell! Heaven... if the residual balance of karma is positive and hell... if the residual balance of karma negative! The sooner matching parents are available on Mother Earth... this soul atman conceives in a body.

The desire to meet our loved ones of present life in the next manifestation shall never be... unable to recognize any in the new life... life goes on and on! More on death - http://www.godrealized.com/Death.html

Zip. Soul is a category of music (only) which will not change with your death. Your: "Will you just stay dead and be dust in a grave?" is bang-on... Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
(Thus ends the reasonable portion of your query.)

Damn dude...

What's up with all the dogma? I thought this was going to be a real question.

After you die the "soul" dissipates along with the chemicals that create it.
