my hair is cut a little bit higher than my shoulders and has layers starting from right above my ears

Well what i've seen from most girls..they get it cut really short in the back. So that way they can spike it. Then the front have (the bangs) stay long and they just gel it over there eye. Use a really strong gel to hold your hair in the back and your bangs over your eyes.
Or you can try just straightening your hair and coloring it black and putting your bangs over your eyes. Good luck!

Don't wash it for two days and use some Got2B gel in it.
