Islamic leaders across Birmingham have issued a joint message against terrorism in a bid to tackle mistrust of Muslims in the UK.
Leaders of the 150 mosques in the city have backed the statement, which comes in response to the police raid in London's Forest Gate this month.

The religious edict makes clear the killing of innocent victims is against the principles of Islam.

It has been welcomed by the chief constable of the West Midlands.

The message is thought to be the first joint statement made by Muslim scholars in the UK against terrorism.

Activities regulated

It states: "That killing of innocent civilians is absolutely forbidden in Islam and anyone who contemplates or commits any such act, does so against the teachings of Islam."

The statement adds action has been taken to regulate the activities of every mosque to ensure worshippers are given a message of "calmness and civic responsibility".

Good for them! Here is an American version and several websites that openly condemn terrorism.

"American Muslim scholars who interpret religious law for their community issued an edict Thursday condemning terrorism against civilians in response to the wave of deadly attacks in Britain and other countries.

In the statement, called a fatwa, the 18-member Fiqh Council of North America wrote that people who commit terrorism in the name of Islam were “criminals, not ‘martyrs.”’

“There is no justification in Islam for extremism or terrorism,” the scholars wrote. “Targeting civilians’ life and property through suicide bombings or any other method of attack is haram — or forbidden.”

Very nice but they never condemn loud enough.

Just because they release statements to the press doesn't mean that they are wholeheartedly behind what they say. They are merely providing lip service to appease the infidels ((that's us non-Mulsims) and lull them (us etc) into a false sense of security.

That is soley my opinion. I, for one, would like to see Mulsims in the U.S., England and other countries protesting in the streets against terrorism with the same fervor that their
"brothers" in Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Syria etc do in protesting against Western countries. Then I might be better convinced.

Islam condemns the terrorism, islam itself means the religion of peace.

So what? Muslims don't lie? Of course they do. allah and Muhammad did and said it's allowed in wars and to protect lives and in defense of islam. Infidels aren't exactly thought of as innocent in islam. It's just a play on words. I don't believe it. I've seen plenty of videos of Muslims in England saying the people of the west should be killed, islam will rule and 9/11 was nothing compared to what's coming next.

May God Bless you.
