Police officers get no money at all for appearing in these shows. The show producers make the money.
We were invovled in the COPS while at Atlanta, and it is not all that most people think, I stoped watching it shortly after being there when they filed one of the Atlanta shows.

They don't make a dime from the shows. The camera crews ride along with the officers and film what they see. The departments involved receive NO salaries or payment of any kind. The only ones making money off the shows are the producers and the marketers.

Those shows are filmed by the networks, not the actual police deparmtents themselves.
