No, usually I ask questions to see what the consensus view is.

Evidently a great many of them are angry, especially at Christianity. They see Christianity as a hurdle, I guess. They are upset because they think that Christians are trying to impose their ideas on them through the legislature. They are afraid that, if we get our way, perhaps the "science" of evolution will be replaced with the "science" of creationism" The are afraid that if we have our way, gay people will not have the same rights as straight people, and they see this as being unfair.
I don't know why they are just getting around to voicing these fears. Prayer was taken out of school ages ago, but kids still pray in school. Evolution will always be taught as long as there is any valid evidence for it, nobody really believes that the earth is only some six thousand years old but a small handful of fanatics. I don't see why they are so afraid of their child being exposed to, say, a Christmas hymn about the Baby Jesus, when they don't seem to mind Easter Bunny in school, since they tend to lump them both into one category. Gay people have always existed whether Christians like it or not, if the church were going to object, she should have said something when they got the right to adopt and raise children, since it's the children they claim to be protecting. It is too late now to worry about whether or not they get property rights, who really cares? It's their property, let them do what they please with it.
They see Christians as standing in the way of research, evidently not realizing that, not only are there better and healthier ways to harvest stem cells than from aborted babies but it is actually the big laboratories who insist on taking out patents on such things as genes, for goodness sake, and then charging outrageous amounts of money to any researcher who wishes to work with them that are really standing in the way of progress.
One can sort of understand their fear of Christianity, but I think they may be developing a bad case of tunnel vision, here.

I'm not so much concerned about swaying anyone, whether of faith or not, unless it's to convince people that language is the material with which we think, and that if we handle language poorly, we are likely to think poorly.

Please look over your question and see if you can make it conform to standard English grammar and spelling. You will appear much more intelligent.

Because they feel that they are right, and anyone who has different beliefs is stupid. I personally like the neutral atheists, and even better, the nicer ones who come here to learn. But most of them want an arguement, and that's not why I came here, but since I am being forced to pretty much, it just gives one more complication to life.

some want to learn, some like to debate, some are just bored. it depends on the individual. i doubt any really care whether they 'sway someone of faith' or not. just expressing opinions & listening to others, mostly.

i would like an answer to my question... but nearly everyone seems too busy bickering & finger pointing to actually give a well thought out opinion....

Oh I think it's great that y'all have your beliefs- I just wish you would quit arguing the evolution point, and the homosexuality is wrong thing bugs me too. If y'all would quit saying stuff like that and trying to convert me I probably wouldn't ever be on R&S ever again- nothing to debate after that

I don't try... I post my POV and you can take it or leave it. I don't go around trying to enact laws that force people to meditate on altruism, compassion, etc. or my versions of ethics as a Buddhist... so I'm not sure where you're getting that posting my pov is "argument" or trying to "sway someone" of "faith".

I'm just here to point out all the lies of the devout. I don't care if they embrace my view, but they might actually seem moral if they didn't turn to deceit to promote theirs.

Logical answers.

But for some reason we get circular reasoning and dogma.

They want attention. Isn't that obvious? What the heck do they believe in?
