ok...I saw this questions and knew I had to answer it.

You actually have several options

1. Romeo's at 1500 Barton Springs, Austin- still good but not as great since the new owners (but not bad either)

2. If you want great Italian Pizza and subs you go to Saccones (OMG...so good that you feel like you are in NY)
13812 N Highway 183, Austin, TX - There are two
(512) 257-1200

3. Hole in the wall - Reale's up north....very italian family with a very italian restaurant (good prices too)
13450 N Hwy 183 Ste 230
Austin, TX 78750
(512) 335-5115

4. This is a new place I have not tried yet, but heard great things about on Guadalupe. - Mandola's Market - it is a restaurant and store, so you can get the great food to cook at home.

4700 W Guadalupe St. #12
Austin, TX 78701

5.Last but not least - if you want GREAT upscale kind of pricey Italian there is only Bellagio Italian Bistro
6507 Jester Blvd
Austin, TX 78750

Oh there is a fabulous one called the Macaroni Grill it has the best wines and the best foods. It isn't authentic but you can hardly find any in Austin i would say that it is the closest you can get! you should really go there!

Good luck

Romeo's on Barton Springs is pretty good...I've heard that Tree House off Lamar is good also.
