I just need cat food that's healthy(without fillers-more natural), not tested on animals, found in local stores(Petco, Petsmart, Target, Walmart, Kmart, etc-not online), and that hasn't been recalled in any of its products. Please help, I'm desperate to find the right kind.

Please help, I'm desperate to find the right kind. Oh stop saying Iams, Purina, Eukanuba, etc. they test on animals and are cruel. The food needs to not be tested on animals. For those of you who don't know what goes on how cruel animal testing is done on animals(even with pet food) please don't answer. Do your research.

Also if its been recalled in any of its products, I no longer trust them. Even if it wasn't that particualr style of food.

Natural Balance is available at PetCo locations

http://www.Naturalbalanceinc.com

Blue Buffalo is available at PetSmart Locations

http://www.bluebuff.com/products/cats-spa-select.shtml

I give my dog Natural Balance and she loves it. She's incredibly healthy, shiny, and doesn't stink.

My cat gets EVO, but I don't know how available that is at mass market stores. I buy it from a local pet supply store.

Edit: Folks, what she means by "no animal testing" is a company that doesn't conduct cruel animal tests like Iams and Menu Foods.

And other Folks, Purina is a CRAPPY food loaded with fillers, byproducts, and crap. Iams conducts cruel tests, and the foods are also loaded with garbage. Please, read the question and don't bother answering if you don't understand it.

All brands haven't been recalled, it's just the type. Canned or pouched wet food has been recalled. We use IAMS for our three cats, the dry variety, and there have been no problems with that. However, there hasn't been problems with any dry food that I've heard about.

My extremely healthy 16 year old cat has been eating 9 lives wet since she was 6 months old. I don't know if it fits all of your requirements, but it's not on the recall list and it's found in pretty much all stores. I don't know if all cats that eat 9 lives wet have the same luck as mine, but I am happy with the results.

The http://www.catinfo.org link others have suggested is full of great information and has good food recommendations.

You can usually find good holistic foods at independent high-end pet supply shops, and at feed stores - look in your phone book for 'pet supplies', and look for stores that contain 'feed' in their name. Call and ask if they carry brands like Wellness (which is what I feed my cats), or Innova, Eagle Pack, Natural Balance, Felidae, California Natural, Newman's Own, etc. Human health food stores often carry good holistic cat foods, too.

Bil-Jac is not on the recall list and is better than most. On the note of the animal testing, what exactly do you mean? Because most foods are tested on animals at least with how palatable they are.

I get a lot of flack when I say Purina products. I feed my dogs and cats Purina and have since they were puppies/kittens. I only use dry..but occasionally will give them lean chicken mixed with rice. Just start them out on the puppy/kitten chow and go up as they get older. PERHAPS you need to make your own as nothing seems to be safe anymore etc. OR get on the inet and check sites out for yourself or BETTER YET call your vet.
