Please do not "diet". Do not skip meals. You are just setting yourself up for future problems. Try to eliminate the junk and soda, eat healthy meals and snack on fruit and veggies. Just make good choices. Please remember to give yourself an occasional snack so you don't feel deprived. And add exercise, walking, yoga, dancing, anything that gets you up and moving. Just do what you like. Please do not get fixed on the numbers. Talk to your mom or anyone else you know that eats healthy for good advice. I eat alot of grilled chicken salads, and pass on pasta, fried foods and potatos. At 12 years of age you really need your calcium and other proteins. Develop good habits now and you will be thankful you did later on as well.

You should NEVER skip meals especially since you are still developing. You can watch what you eat and your portion size. You should always eat your 4 healthy food groups and breakfast is the most important part of the day. Drink plenty of water and just don't sit around. Get outside and do things. 10 - 20 pounds is a lot of weight.

The best thing for you to do is to get with your mother and go and see your doctor for the best adivce for your body. It is not good to go on diets and then stop, then you actually gain the weight back PLUS more. It is much better to just watch what you eat and get exercise. Go outside and play. Use your jumprope for aerobic exercise. Play with the dog, etc.....

If you Start the bad habits of diets now, your body is in for a world of trouble as you get older.

Portion control is a big factor. When you are not hungry, do not eat. When your tummy is satisfied, do not go and get seconds. Don't eat more than a fist full of meat. Don't eat a lot of desserts. It is fine to eat a small portion to get a taste of it and satisfy your craving.

Do not drink a lot of soft drinks as they tend to make you gain weight. Don't stay on the computer, get out and play, get into an organized sport or activity. Play volleyball with the neighbors or hide and seek or tag or something you enjoy with the neighbor kids. Be smart and safe. Never skip a meal, just watch your portion control and eat healty. Don't eat just snack foods all the time. Try a salad too.

Congratulations on trying to be fit to better yourself. If you want to lose 10-20 lbs in 2 months you're talking about losing about 1 1/2 lbs-2 1/2 lbs a week. About the only diet I can think of achieving this in such a short time is Atkins or South Beach Diet. The basic premise of these diets is to eat low carbs ( ie. taking out your sweets, bread, pasta, sugar) and kick your body into metabolizing fats/protein. Obviously before taking on any diet make sure you don't have any health issues with your health care provider.
Now if you want to keep your weight off for a longer time, you are faced with life style changes so you need to incorporate an excercise program as well.
Good luck!

Come on, you know that this is not at all healthy nor is it sustainable. From reading what you just said, i do not think you are ready to diet. You are asking for a ton of trouble that you are in no position to handle. Take it from someone who lives with an ED every day, dont do this, 10 lbs is nothing compared to a life worth living. No matter how much weight you lose, you will never be your "perfect size" unless you learn to ove yourself as you are RIGHT NOW.You are being foolish if you think that the way you look in a bathing suit is worth risking everything. Do yourself a favor ands listen to your friends, as they seem to have a clue, forget the diet and focus on eating HEALTHY and being a kid.
PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS.

Whatever you end up doing, don't skip breakfast. That's the meal that starts your metabolism burning first thing after you have had a night's rest. If you're 12, then your body is still growing and you need all the nutrients you can get... regardless of how much you weigh, if you're not overeating unhealthy foods (like McDonald's and stuff like that) then you shouldn't be so concerned about the number on the scale. Do some exercise, that should help you shape your form to the way you want to look.

you are at the age where your body is producing a lot of hormones. you should probably take a good multi-vitamin every day. do not skip meals. cut out any junk food/sodas and eat smaller portions. a portion size is what you can fit in your cupped hand. you really need to eat breakfast, so that you can have energy during school. eat something like 1 cup of cereal or oatmeal for breakfast, or 2 scrambled eggs. salad and raw veggies for lunch, then a good amount of lean protein for dinner...grilled chicken breast, grilled or baked fish, eggs, etc. with more veggies. do not allow yourself to get too hungry during the day...you can always eat as many veggies and fruits that you want. increase your exercise, but don't get all obsessive about it, or you'll set yourself up for failure. stay away from the fashion magazines...those girls are not a realistic image of what girls in the "real" world look like. most important of all, love and value yourself for the unique person that you are!!

the diet your talking about isnt gonna help you. it will at first because your starving your body..but as soon as you stop your gonna gain all the weight back and maybe even more. you can cut back on your portions...but honestly breakfast should be the biggest meal then small lunches and dinners. eating just dinner isnt really gonna help either. your friends are right. and you say your gonna keep doin it and doin it until your your perfect size but... you obviously dont think its right if your asking for strangers advice. i htink you should just cut down your portions at lunch and dinner and excercise and youll get the results you want. dont hurt yourself what good will it do your body if your not well to show it off. right? good luck

I was about your age when my eating disorder started. Please be careful. Not much fun. Even worse when you get help and you gain even more weight because your metabolism is messed up. Now I know better and it has taken me quite a few years to get my metabolism to work right for me. If you are not eating your metabolism slows down to starvation mode. It will store any fat that it can because it feels you are starving to death. Breakfast is really important to your metabolism. When you are sleeping your metabolism slows down. Once you wake up and eat a healthy breakfast it will start back up again. If you go all the way to supper without eating that means your metabolism has been working slowly all day long. I hope you take my advice.

no you should not go on that kind of diet . the simple fact of the matter is that no one really needs to be on a diet . a girl your age should just stop buying candy ice cream chips pop stuff like that if she wants to be fit. then less TV and less computer and more outside stuff play fun have a life that is what a guy wants a girl that is not freaking about her weight or looks just a girl that isn't a pig stuffing candy in her mouth and sitting around all the time. the boys want the girl that is outside riding bikes skate boards walking climbing a tree you name it but just no in her house . how can a girl be popular besides giving it out free often unless she is outside meeting and making real friends do this and you will be the girl the guys want and the girl the other girls want to be like.
