I have nice brown hair, not too thick and I really want highlights and all my frends have them and even the boys. She says, "It's innapropriote for your age and you'll regret it"
I ask my frends and they say they would NEVER regret it and it's a load of fun.
I want salon color and everything and my mom really bugs me.
I'm 10 years old turning 11 soon.

its a lot to keep up with. you have to go back every month and a half or so to get the retouched unless you get them VERY subtle. i would listen to your mom for now. try again in a month or two. if you can wait til summer put lemon juice in your hair and sit out in the sun and that will give you a little color... ive been highlighting my hair since i was 13.. VERY damagaing. So coming from someone a little older than your friends, im 21 now.. you might regret it down the road. and if you dont like it you'll have to wait a while for it to grow out and it looks awkward.

Do what i did when I were given blue highlights. I sat my father and mother down and reported mom dad i imagine i'm previous sufficient 2 make my own decision, i elect to characteristic blue spotlight to my hair. you shoulda stated the look on their faces it became helpful haha. of course their first reaction became no!! yet then i discussed nicely i'm the only which would want to might want to stay with it and decide to precise my own individuality. they were nonetheless somewhat hesitant yet i kept on asking and asserting yet its my hair and that i'm the only which would want to might want to take care of what human beings would say or imagine

I'm sorry but I agree with your mother on this subject. Most salons wouldn't even touch your hair due to the permanent damage they can cause to your scalp from highlighting. I myself have highlights and my parents wouldn't allow me to get them til I turned 16. To them it wasn't a matter of regret, it was my health they were concerned about.

well i mean i would understand if you were 16 or 17 but i mean 10 going to 11. way to young.... you have to know that once you change your hair once your hair will never be the same color.. your mom loves you and does not want to see you mess up your hair.. set her aside and discuss with her maturely about when she thinks you can change your hair color.. good luck

you really don't have a lot of opinion on your hair until you can pay to get it 'done" yourself.

listen to your mom and stop griping. there are a lot worse things that could happen rather than you not getting highlights.

Your mom is right. Don't do everything "all" your friends are doing. That's called being a sheep.
