I know that this is a popular website and it is read by thousands and this is not so much a qeustion but a comment. I work full time as a paramedic in a rural county an on one Saturday morning in October my life changed as well as an entire family and community. A 3 year old child was run over accidentily by a pick-up truck by someone he loved because he did not see him. He looked before backing up and saw all of his children and thought that they were safe. His son ran out to greet him, he backed up, and ran over his head. The child died enroute to the hospital despite our best efforts. His family is in eternal grief and I will NEVER forget that horrible day. I have signed a petition on kidsandcars.com for all large vehicles whether they be garbage trucks or pick up trucks to have warning devices to tell you when there is something in front of your vehicle. This is not often thought about till it hits home. Next time you get in and back up, look carefully. It could save a life

I know I just wrote this and so far 3 responses. Thank you. I think about this child a lot and there is so much more that can be done to protect children. Reading your responses brought tears to my eyes to know people are reading this and I hope one day these devises will become a reality. Thanks to all.

I can't begin to imagine the pain of the family. I have 2 children myself and don't think I could possibly bare the grief of loosing either one of them. I will definitely sign the petition. Thanks to you for the wonderful service you provide to your community.

I will not have any trouble w/ signing this petition also. My heart & prayers goes out to all in this terrible situation! With this device, it really could save some lives, if you think about it, this is probably not the first time this has happened.

I am so sorry for you and the family's that this happens to,,, but come on,, why cant people keep a closer eye on they're kids? i guess i was too overprotective,, because i never let my kids out of my sight, no matter what,, i never left it up to someone else to make sure they were safe. i never thought well so and so has they're eye on them. that was my job, and no one else's!
