my step son is 3 1/2 and my daughter is 6 months and they just both got over a stomach virus. they had it for almost a week and had to stay in the hospital. they got really dehydrated so we had to give them fluids with a syringe. they could only have 20 mls at the most and i had to let it settle for 15 mins. it was really hard to do because they wanted to drink and i had to keep telling them they couldnt. the doc wouldnt put them on IV's because he didnt want to traumatize them. it will only last a few days.dont let him have any formula just give him a mixture of pedialite and juice with the syringe. he will be ok not having any for 2 days after that he should be better and stop vomiting. but if he has the formula it can upset his tummy even more.

I am not sure if this is what your son has but my 2 year old just got over a virus called Roto or Rhoda Virus. We had to put my son on an IV to make sure he got his fluids. As long as your son is urinating you should not have a problem. I would be more worried about dehydration than him losing a little weight. My son did lose some weight, but he is putting it back on. His vomiting lasted a week. I am not sure if this is what your baby has but if so than this is what you can expect.
It also might be that is formula does not agree with him. I had a friend whos baby was vomiting all the time and it was because the formula was just not easy enough on his belly. You might consider changing his formula. Good luck! Hope I helped.

how old is he? for infants and toddlers...try feeding him 1oz pedialyyte mixed with 1oz cherry gatorade the pedialyte is too keep from dehydartion and the gatorade for aide the flavor. not all at once tho, lil by lil.. then wait an hour and do it again if he doesn't throw up.
Increase the amount by 1oz per every hour without puke.
if he does throw up then wait 1/2 hour before starting over.
Once a period of 8hrs have gone by on the pedialyte diet without any episodes then move onto formula 1oz at a time or if he's bigger, then start the BRAT (B ananas R ice A pplesauce T oast) diet., all in very small portions.while continuing the pedialyte with gatorade.
Any severe vomiting shouldn't last any more than 48 hrs. with as many as 20 episodes per day.Look out for blood in the vomit or discoloration. Also check for signs of dehydration.
Signs of dehydration;
-dry mouth, not enough drool (cotton mouth)
-sleepyness or difficulty waking him up
-No urine in a 2hr period (after drinking liquids)
If the vomiting seems to concern you a bit, you can ask you DR to give you suppositories to control it. Promethazyne

If you have to feed him 1 oz at a time, then you should feed him often. If he used to eat 4 oz in 4 hours then feed him 1 oz an hour. If he continues to vomit you should go back to the doctor or find a new doctor. After a while the acid will begin to hurt his throat. Also try burping frequently, gas in the tummy can make babies vomit. You can also try laying him on his back and bicycling his legs toward his tummy ( do not do this one right after eating).

If it is a flu, it will only last a few days. If the doctor didnt seem too concerned then i wouldnt be.
Iknow it sucks to have a sick baby and not know what you can do to comfort them but that is just part of being a parent.
I have been there
good luck and god bless

i might substitute to a various cereal. There are diverse varieties to boot rice. there is likewise multi-grain, and oatmeal. i might advise attempting that fairly. and take a inspect a clean fruit. you may desire to be introducing a clean fruit each 5 days besides. If he does not prefer to consume stable ingredients in any respect suited now, i does not push it. He gets adequate supplements and foodstuff from formulation/breast feeding. Technically, the only reason to offer babies stable foodstuff is for practice, he does not particularly choose it. If he's refusing to consume it, lay off it for some weeks then try returned. do not difficulty, finally he will consume like something individuals
