How do you make a battery?

Question

I'd done this before. But I forgot some of the steps. I remember using 6 pennies, 6 paper towels, and 6 pieces of aluminum foil. Then you are supposed to put them together, and put the tip of a pair of headphones on it, but I just need to know any other steps.

Any help is appreciated.

You are forgetting the lemon or grapefruit...they give you the acid you need to produce a current. although the voltage is very low you will get a voltage.
