I have high gloss shoes and the NCO's tell me that it is permissible to wear them however all the cadets keep bugging me about wearing them when I shouldn't. Is there a place that says yes or no about the high gloss shoes. They are supposedly officers only and I am not quite there yet. Any links would be greatly appreciated. 10 POINTS UP FOR GRABS

CAPM 39-1, Page 48, Item 7 gives the specifications for the wear of low-quarter (oxford) shoes. It states that patent leather or high-gloss shoes may be worn and does NOT limit the wear to cadet or senior members of a certain rank.

In short, ALL CAP members may wear patent leather shoes regardless of rank.

When in doubt, always go to the manual.

Listen to the NCO's most cadet's don't know what they are talking about.
Remember it is an NCO's job to take care of soldier's and make sure you are ready. They do not set you up for failure.
