As a Pagan, I've read about many metaphysical phenomena, but the only reference point I have for this is Cyndi Lauper's character in a movie and a few hushed whispers with like-minded friends. I get "feeling" from objects. It's nothing real dramatic, but I sometimes feel warm happy feelings or despair and sadness from secondhand objects for sale, or feel a need to drop something I thought I wanted to buy, or can tell that someone was using something of mine while I was away.
Do you? If so, or even if you've just heard of it, what do you *call* that, and is there anything decent written about it? (Even a website?)
If you're going to laugh or moan, that's fine, but I can anticipate all the unhelpful and mean answers already, so there's no need for you to supply them. Thanks to everyone else in advance!

It's called psychometry, and a lot of people get that "feeling" as you describe it.
Here are some links to help you investigate further:

I call it 'getting a feeling'. In the case of secondhand objects you may just be smelling it's history rather than feeling it. Emotions do affect the way a person smells. You can also pick up subliminal clues from looking at the object. There are many rational and scientific explanations for the 'feeling'.
I realise that there are some experiences I cannot explain and I neither reject them or accept a religious/spiritual significance to them. Instead I compare them to my logical and emotional responses and see what kind of information I can get by combining them all. Sometimes they are all in agreement, sometimes not. With practice this can yield an amazing amount of detail and history about an object.
I think that most cases of 'extra sensory perception' can be adequately explained as 'sensory perception with subliminal processing'. But not all cases. There are still things which defy rational explanation. They may have rational explanations in the future, but for now they must appear as mystical.
I believe in the interconnectivity of minds through sympathetic vibration (and this could also be a factor in your 'feelings'). This is more commonly known as telepathy. I deliberately use scientific terminology because I believe it will eventually be a scientifically measurable process. Some people consider me to be scientific, other people consider me to be a spiritualist. I consider myself to be both.

I can feel that. People are a spirit energy inhabiting a temporary physical form (generally for the purpose of learning and just to experience it, because we can). That spirit energy can leave a "residue" on objects, places, even people. I think this is the explanation for ghosts, psychics reading from objects, etc. I personally feel it more in places/buildings than in objects.
Lots of paranormal investigators believe that such a residue can be left on objects - it's like the object holds a memory. In addition, you might want to look into how psychic investigators use objects of the lost or deceased to get a reading on them. You might search on residual energy or residual spirit energy.

I understand. It's just the old energies lingering around from a previous time or owner! Much like how some psychics, or other people with spiritual powers, can touch something and see images! I don't remember where I read this, but I looked it up a while ago when I first started to happen for me! :D

It's positive and negative energy.
Crystals are a good example of this. I work a lot with crystals and stones. After purchasing them, I "cleanse" them, because so many people have been handling them before I got to them, that their personal energy (whether negative or not) builds up and gets stored within it and I want to rid the crystals of it. I either want only the crystal/stones own natural energy (for healing) or I want to build up my own positive energy within the stone.
If you really want to break it down...right down to the molecule, it's just a transference of molecules from one thing to another (I.E. the molecules from a person to the object they touch). It can be explained by quantum mechanics, but it would take forever. You can try looking up magick and quantum mechanics or magick and quantum physics in a search engine and see what it brings up. I know there are books out there on the subject. (I sat in on a really interesting lecture all about it once.) I just can't remember any of the names off hand.
Not everyone is open to feeling these energies. You have to be open to it and allow yourself to feel it. But it can be done.
As for me, I only feel it with objects that I specifically want to and only at the times I want to.

What you are referring to is called Psychometry. I haven't read any book on it but I did find 5 books that deal with psychic abilities that do mention psychometry within them. The second link below should take you to the page.

If you can prove that you have this ability, there are skeptic organizations around the world who will pay you big money. The Amazing Randi in Florida has a $1,000,000 prize to anyone who can demonstrate supernatural abilities. However, he is changing that program in April to only go after the big name psychics and people who claim to have powers. Yet there are still plenty of other skeptic organizations across the world who have prizes for people who can show that they have these abilities.
