I think that congress wants the president to know that even though (OF COURSE!) money will be going to support the military, this time around, there won't be any 'disappearing' billions at the Average Joe's expense. No more Haliburton gaining billions while our soldiers go without proper equipment or even proper food! I think the vote was simply to let the president know that he no longer has the legislatures in his back pocket.

The money has not been decreased. The latest INCREASE is supposed to be contingent upon our having a firm pull out date but a battle looms over that. Most people do not want to send more troops over there. And, we want to bring the ones there home ALIVE.

Because they dont know what their doing. Politicians are listening to the (Iraqis) people that fled to USA to creat havoc amongst americans. These politicians just recently came out of hibernation to raise hell, but with out thinking. some do what their told so that later when its time to vote again they'll be sure to tell you. Money is needed to help our troops in support. the public is being swaded by the sound of Iraqis liveing in our country, that are weaponless except for their MOUTHS. We send reserves(troops) to destroy the teririosts to keep the free world free of unnecessary deaths at the hands of suiciders.

Congress is presently agonizing over spending another $110 billion dollars for Iraq and Afghanistan. The money goes to the military. Where do you see a cut in anything? The Administration is giving the military what they ask for.

The whole point of threatening to cut off funding is to try to force Bush to bring the troops home where they belong.
Congress can't order the troops home (some parts of the Constitution are still in effect), but they DO control the purse-strings.
So, agree to bring them home on this date, or you get no more funding for them now (which means he'll have to bring them home now).

First of all if this is what your wanting just to stop sending troops? Wow. plus you don't get paid that much if shipped out anyways. Not much more anyways, so what does it matter wether they still are at war or not? It doesn't take that uch money out of the government to send 200 more... Out of all the money they have, $10k? ok sure why not, now what exactly is your question? I dont think i really get it?

Because we (Soldiers) are merely numbers to the vast majority of Americans. It is nice that they say they support us; but in truth, they really don't care as long as their lives aren't affected at all by our deaths.
