Definately up, theres a real lack of respect now. I was terrified of getting into trouble at school due to the cane and at home due to the tongue lashing I would have got from my parents. Both have been banned by the Government and theres nothing to be afraid of anymore.

I caught the end of a ITVprogramme tonight called cops on Camera set with UK police forces, at the end of the show they showed all the police raids and arrests while telling the viewer what sentances were handed out to the criminals and out of the ten or so cases stated only two were sent to prison for laughable lengths of time the rest was let off with community service or suspended sentances or charges dropped.
This answers the question crime will go UP if there is no hard time punishment for commiting crime lots more people will get the cash they want by stealing it in whatever way they see fit.
When living in a country that taxes a worker into poverty and wages cannot even pay bills them humans resort to desperate measures to get the money they need.
A huge change in social policies are needed and not in a limp wristed socialist way as that just does not work at all and has been proved useless.

can't go any other way than up. The law is not strict enough with criminals, unfortunately most criminals now know more about the law than the police, unless the government and the do gooders of this world butt out and let the public have a say this country is only going to get worse and we pay the price!

The crime rate will go up. Eventually, there will have to be ways to treat the criminals and release them, as they now do the mentally ill, although it adds to the homeless rate. I meet people with felony records, I went to high school with, and they are convicted of stealing, etc. things you want to believe they would know different. I don't keep company with them, although i wouldn't want them in prison. And the drug use, when will Americans stop taking illegal drugs like candy.
Thank you

As long as your citizens are not allowed to defend themselves, then crime will continue to rise. In the US, the proliferation of Concealed Carrying of personal handguns by law abiding citizens has drastically reduced crime. Of course, this is not reported in the liberal media and is only noticed in those states which trust their citizens with their own right to self protection. The police can not protect you; they can only make reports once one becomes a victim.

If something isn't done by the government to make prisons harder then the crime rate will go up.
In the 30's when there was very little work and no D.H.S.S the prisons were not as full as they are today.
that surely must tell us something.

in central fl it has gone up significantly (murders have sky rocketed)...the politicos dance around it but anyone with half a brain can see the demographics are changing to latino, so with the rest of teh country headed in that direction I would say yes crime will be up 5 years from now...especially if the economy slows.

A number of factors can influence the crime rate, hard to say.
If the economy continues up and down, crime rates will probably follow.

They say that a measure of a society is by it's criminal element. As society advances, so does the crime rate, so I'm saying it will go up and up and up. The more we got, the more there is to pinch.
