how and why do you fish with a catapult? A guy posted a question in hunting mentioning this please explain

Fishermen in Britain have been using them for years. They are used by bank fishermen to launch a kind doughball as far as possible from the shore. I think they are used for carp. They are thrown like a sling.

You can chuck stuff shot with the catapult and if you hit something, it'll float... then, pick the remains of the poor animal (whatever you hit). Congratulations you just fished with a catapult. As of why would anyone do this... no idea.

It would make a cool way to launch chum from shore into deep water.

You could use it to launch your bait or lure really far....need a lot of line though
