You need to be "physically worn out" to sleep... try getting at least 30 minutes of good quality excercise =)
Also, eat 2 hours prior to going to bed. No caffiene either unless it's at least 4 hours to when you want to go to sleep.
Try to relax too... sometimes I can't get to sleep either, but if you just chill and don't get stressed about a test or your problems, you will fall asleep in no time!

Maybe your over stimulated. Do you have a radio or a tv on in your room when your trying to go to sleep. Is someone talking where you can hear them. If its completely quiet, and your laying in your room but your thoughts are keeping you awake. Try turning your thoughts into a movie picture in your head. This sounds a little funny, but I mentally distract myself from issues that I'm worried about. I think about a little cartoon character, then I kind of play out an episode in my mind. Before you know it I'm drifting off, and as long as nothing doesn't startle me, like my cat jumping on my bed I'm fine. You should try that.
Also avoid sugar and caffine after like dinner time. Don't take benadryl to much because you'll become dependent on it to sleep, I had this problem with a medication I was taking and when I stopped taking it I couldn't get to sleep.
If all else fails talk to your doctor.

nothing's wrong with you...a lot of people don't sleep much. don't take benedryl regularly to get you to sleep. I think if you take sleep aides consistently, your body will become dependent on them (like nasal spray for a stuffy nose...if you use it too much you can only clear your nose by using that nasal spray). Anyway, don't do the exercise thing before bed..yes, it will make you immediately physically tired but will raise your metabolism ...you will be up with an active mind or you will sleep unsoundly. I would try eating something without sugar or caffeine a couple hours before sleep, listening to talk radio on a low level (while in bed), or writing in a journal if you just need to get thoughts out.

I have the same problem except I'm 22 and this has been going on for awhile. You just think too much and can't sleep because all these thoughts keep you awake. I heard that writing in a journal before bed might help get all your problems out. Also, try to cut back on caffeine, like soda and coffee.

Sleeping tablets are not good generally speaking but more so on a child!
You must be overstressed or leading a quite unhealthy life. I suggest you talk to your mum and see if she could take you to see a doctor. No panic, but just take action to sort this out. The doctor you see should help you find other solutions than sleeping tablets!

quit drinking anything with caffeine in it. cut back on foods and drinks that contain sugar especially 4 hours before the time you want to go to bed. when you lay down to sleep focus on your breathing and an ambient noise in the room, like the hum of a fan. to induce a trance state you need to occupy your mind with these two things. it will block out any other thoughts that keep you from getting the sleep you desperately need.

Some people have a documented and verifiable sleep disorder that keeps them up most of the night. You should see a doctor to be properly diagnosed.

Your restless, try to exercises and ware yourself out, you may just have too much energy. If that don't work try drinking warm milk. But if its hot and I have trouble going to sleep I turn on the fan to make some nose and that works for me.

Do you drink lots of pop, coffee or tea. Do you eat lots of food with sugar in them. Try going for a long run an hour before going to bed.

Insomnia. It sounds like. Have you got a lot going on in your life right now. With family, school, sports? All of them together? Maybe your mind can't rest because you cant stop thinking about stuff.
