Don.t you think that the capture of the brittish military personel was planned by the Iranians in order to humiliate Britain(the english).

I had to deal with Iranians all the time, there is no way they can see you as normal person, they simply have in general rules from the very childhood this envy and complex about "the west" and refer to Christians in our own country, living on our roof and with our money, beating our National Security System and enjoying our Christian money, what they had done with the kidnap, retention and ahow on tv is a blatant war provocation, the second,in two years, this is completely unaceptable...

From a technical point of view the Iranian's don't have a leg to stand on with them saying the British marines were in Iranian waters, they investigated an anchored ship and were captured from that vessel. The vessel is still anchored in the same place and when satellite mapping is placed over where the ship is, it is clearly in Iraqi waters not Iranian. So they entered Iraqi waters and took marines doing there job.
Motive, could be that seeing that the world is giving Iran a hard time on their Nuclear programme, chances are they are looking to use the marines as political pawns in the game of getting the heat taken away from the Nuclear issue. Certainly got Great Britain's attention, I just hope that we don't leave our marines out in the cold for too long, and that the Iranians see sense of their actions...

I would imagine that there was a definately a certain amount of:
1. Lets bugger them right up.
2. What toothless sanctions are the UN going to tickle us with this time.
3. Shall we see if we can`t get a proper jihad on this one.
4. Do you think we can completely finish off tony the tigers tarnished reputation.
...Amongst other considerations.
And incidentally there is actually no such thing as `the English` the country sometimes called england, is run by the Scots,the Welsh and the Irish, who also govern themselves, we just get shafted by people who dry run poxy rules and laws in our country to see if they work, so they don`t ruin their own country. And these are the same people who get us into these difficult and tense situations, well them and mr Brush, thats George W, not Basil
Lets have an English parliament,English citizens and rule brittania for our national anthem, nothing against the queen, but she is german after all, he he he

I disagree. I believe it is to further test how much they can screw with other nations before someone will intervene (Germany was ignored as well leading into WWII because no one wanted to get into a world war, just like now). Also I think that they are using it as a distraction from something, not sure what at this point, but everytime Iran, Syria, or N Korea acts out it ends up masking something done by one of them or by China at the same time.

of course it was planned, the boat they were checking is still anchored in the same spot in Iraqi waters, what i don't understand is why we let the Iranians take our marines, if it was the Americans doing this job they would have had Apache helicopters covering their marines and would have taken the Iranians out if they tried to take marines prisoner.
we will eventually be at war with Iran it is just a matter of when.

It was a Blatant show of force from the Iranians, They are basically saying, we wont do what you say, we will do as we please.
I know this much though, if they dont give us our personell & equipment back they will be asking for trouble.
I say we punish them anyway, when we get them back with a few Cruise missiles into Tehran.

Yes, I think it was planned. Iran would like to say that some other country started it. They are just waiting for any little thing, so they can **** their guns. They want war and not Peace. America will stand along side of Britain. Pray for Peace on Earth.

The small factor of a UN vote on sanctions might be a factor, they give them back in a grovelling way makes them seem weak and gets votes from the un-aligned members of the UN?
