Absolutely. If he's not a show champion or a prized working dog, he should have been fixed two and a half years ago. "Pure Bred" is NOT a valid reason to breed. There are MILLIONS of "Pure Bred" dogs in the US alone and only a handful of them are sound enough to breed.
Do the responsible thing and get him fixed ASAP.
Good luck to you.

I very own 3 canines suitable now and a million cat. All 4 are rescues and that they have interplay with the family of little ones and grandchildren that even have pets (adult males, women human beings and the two canines and cats) ALL are neutered or spayed. 60 plus years in the past little ones ran around with their canines in tow and having them spayed or neutered wasn't relatively finished. for sure at that factor maximum family contributors animals have been allowed to run unfastened and the dogs license grow to be the outstanding to maintain the dogs catcher from choosing them up. What got here approximately some have been hit and killed via automobiles, even had "wiggles" the dogs hit via a passenger practice lower back then;. often that they had distemper and it would wipe out an entire mass of canines for the reason that maximum weren't given the human characteristics they conjure up now a days. I help with a rescue and have seen terrible situations of animals that weren't even given love or petted or something. If it weren't for the rescues those creatures might come into the worldwide without ever understanding what kindness and secure practices or perhaps nutrition. lower back interior the day i did no longer see skinny canines or cats, or abused animals it purely wasn't some thing that got here approximately. i'm particular there have been circumstances yet to no longer the degree as is going on at present. Society as an entire seems to are becoming meaner. The weaker and much less waiting to guard themselves be they human or animal are disposeable and clateral harm. What a tragic comentary in a time that scientific advances, awareness of reason and result are better everyday now a days extra so than any time interior the historic past of the human race.

Once you breed your male dog it changes them, and not for the better. Nookie becomes all they think about. If you have a great show dog that has perfect Akita conformation than that is a choice that will take a lot of consideration. However if you have a nice pet and think a litter of pups would be fun and a way to make a fast buck; neuter your dog. Getting him fixed will curb a lot of aggressive and dominant tendencies and make him a much better pet.

Unless your dog passes temerament testing, genetic health tests (OFA/PennHip, CERF/PRA, thyroid, etc), has an impeccible pedigree that has been researched fully for health, longevity, temeprament and breed standard, has himself either been shown to championship or pointed or has been evaluated by at least 3 unbiased, knowledgable people/judges of the breed to see that he meets breed standard then he should definately get him neutered. Based on your post I would say that his temperament is already in question and since you had issue with finding a female to breed to him I would gather he doesn't meet any of the other requirements for responsible breeding either.
Neutering him will make him a much happier, healthier dog with a longer life...I would recommend listening to your vet and getting him neutered, especially since you have a small child.

Yes, though if you want to breed him and you have good documentation that he's from a good blood line than contact breeders in your area. They shouldn't be hard to find as everyone loves to make $$$.
Though this may involve contracts and all types of serious responsibilities- unless you want to alter the dogs life DON"T breed him.
The only reason the breeder who sold us our string of dogs was one was missing a tooth and was "imperfect" and the next was that he had a hurnia- again "imperfect".. His brother wins best in show or best in breed at almost every contest he enters. We had to sign papers for each that we would never show the dog and if we went against this contract we'd be sued.
Though like I said- once you get involved in this it is a process and could affect the dogs life to an extent.

Well I wouldn't breed with a 2 year old son. if you have a litter of 6 puppies per say. Your son may get attached and it will be hard on him to let the puppies go. I also would like to say that if there are no champion show dogs in the dogs' history, It would be a better Idea to neuter him. But I would honestly try not to neuter him because I have never heard of such a breed and I consider them rare. Maybe you should keep looking and keep the breed alive.

Definately get him fixed. Akita's can because aggressive, and it sounds like that's exactly what's happening. So far, you've been very lucky with your son, but what happens next year if he has a little friend over who pulls his ear, or his hair? Better safe than sorry, so get that guy fixed.

Yes!
I had an Akita and though she was the greatest dog, they require special owners as they are strong dogs with prey instinct.
Please neuter your dog ASAP. There are enough unwanted animals around.

Yes, I believe you should. Tho aggression problems are better handled by training, castration will help prevent them. I expect you take him training anyway as Akitas are highly strung dogs.
Definitely time to have that doggy 'fixed', before he gets old and riddled with prostate problems, or - and I bet you're tired of hearing this - contributes to the overpopulation of dogs!!!

I think that you should definately get your dogs fixed! There are no more dogs needed in the world than there already are! I dont mean dogs are bad or anything, i love them, but if you really want a puppy i would suggest getting one from your local animal shelter.
