Shakes and smoothies run very closely together. Using fresh fruit is the healthiest but usually has less sweetness to it. You can use frozen sliced strawberries or other fruit as well. The frozen strawberries come with a sweetened juice that really adds to the flavor.
Try adding some other ingredients to add flavor and still maintain a healthy smoothy. You can use honey for a sweetener and use lowfat yogurt and ice. Also, bananas make a smoothy have a great consistancy if you like their flavor.
I usually use 1 cup frozen strawberries with sauce, 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 cup lowfat yogurt, a banana, a little milk, and ice. Not too bad tasting but still healthy!
Good luck!

I think you tried to make a shake if you used milk. I'm good at making shakes. I use ice cream and strawberries, sugar, and vanilla extract and blend it together.

Hopefully somebody has suggestions on smoothies!

you should freeze them, natural is best! Also, you can try with frozen bananas, mangoes, pineapples, the only conditions are the fruit must be naturally sweet and it has to be frozen. Non-fat milk must be chilled, too.

Frozen does work a little better as far as texture goes. Try adding some yogurt or a little maple syrup for sweetness.
