For the most part, the Colorado River no longer flows into the Pacific Ocean--at the Gulf of California.

Some of the residents of Colorado have mentioned that they see no reason the Colorado River should leave the State of Colorado. They could easily take it all.

Lots of rivers have this problem. The Yellow River in China no longer flows into the Pacific. The Rio Grande no longer empties into the Gulf of Mexico. Those are just a couple of famous examples.

One good thing--the Colorado River is not as heavily polluted as is the Columbia River when it flows from Canada into the US. So its health is pretty good in that regard. And its health has been improving, with a number of cities along its route banning phosphate detergents and stopping wastewater runoff.
