Well while it's healing it's important to constantly clean it so it doesn't become infected. You probably dont' have to use mouth wash EVERY day, but at least for the first month or two. It's important to keep the wound clean. There are also risks in that you want a certified and trustworthy and has experience, as the tongue contains a blood vessel that is very dangerous if the piercist hits it by accident. Just be careful.

Its recommended to use mouth wash, because it will clean and disinfect the piercing before and after its healed. You dont have to use it everyday, as long as you brush your teeth. But while its healing, its advised.
And it depends on your age and maturity. Of coarse, no mother that I know would let her 11 or 12 year old get a tongue piercing. But, if you think about it, research it, and explain facts, hazards, and cleaning instructions to her, maybe offer to pay for it too, then perhaps she will come around.

You don't have to use mouthwash every single day after it heals but I don't see why that would be a problem; you should be using it at least twice a day as you brush your teeth!! Just do it; it doesn't hurt. On second thought, maybe you shouldn't b/c it seems you don' take care of your mouth as is right now so you will probably get it infected.

I would say don't do it. My cousin had her tongue pierced. Sure it was really cool, but that was before she needed $20,000 teeth correction surgery. Unfortunately the metal rod in her mouth kept tapping against her gum and caused nerve damage and she lost her four front teeth due to the rod. Also, there is all sorts of bacteria that lives in your mouth I would say if you did decide to get one you should mouthwash or use peroxide at least twice a day.

You don't HAVE to use mouthwash once the piercing is fully healed, but its still strongly suggested that you brush your teeth twice daily and keep your mouth generally clean for more reasons than just having a healthy, problem free piercing.

For the life of me, what possesses an individual to want to get parts or portions of his or her body pierced. As if this weren't enough, then, there are the things about tattooing ones body like national grafitti. No, I do not think having your tongue pierced is an idea even worth considering because I have four friends who have literally died from the poisoning of critical infections and this is no joke nor is it a laughing matter, so, quit it while you're ahead. Thank you.

Yes you will be having to use mouth wash on a daily basis more than once a day.
Once it has healed it's your choice if you want your piercing to get infected or not. i suggest you keep up with the listerine.
the mouth has so many germs that you do want to keep it clean as possible.
i for one did not talk with a lisp after the piercing.
hope this helped you out.

no you dont use mouth wash to clean your tongue piercings. it contains alcohol and is to strong of a chamical for you mouth.. you can dilute it with 50% water and 50% mouthc wash so its not as hars.. but the nest thing to do it a saline silution tour piercer will tell you about. but onc its healed you may need to care for it if you develop complications.
tell your mom if you get good grades then you can get a tongue ring and that YOU will pay for it.

You only have to use mouthwash while it's healing, and you use it everytime you do anything but drink water. Smoke, drink, eat, etc...
Why do you want one so bad. That phase was over years ago!!!! But please if you do get it, don't be one of those people that always has it hanging out of their mouth and playing with it just to show it off. That's trashy and it looks so nasty...
