I am having trouble downloading adobe reader. Keep getting error 1406. Why and what can i do?

you may have had it before and deleted it if you deleted it from add & remove it will have left some files on c drive click my computer open c drive open programs and see if there is an adobe file there if so right click on it and delete then try to download and install
