I'm hispanic, i've had a white girlfriend before but she didn't really hang out with my family because I wasn't sure she would understand our culture, I'd go to her house and her parents would be so nice and educated and quiet. She would come to my house and there would be 30 people home partyin, yellin, kids dancin in a corner, the dogs runnin up and down the house with loud spanish music in the background and my parents speakin spanish to her and givin her latin food she never ate before. We'll thats how we live, but i kind of felt bad because i thought she felt out of place. so my question is: Do white people feel comfortable when they go to a Latino household?

I dont feel uncomfortable. My last boyfriend was hispanic and his mom and dad dont know any english so i would communicate with them in the little bit of spanish i know. I actually liked being over at his house instead of mine! Because of him, i actually started listening to reggaeton and other types of music. I also work with a bunch of hispanics so i feel fine around all of them. & i have actually learned alot of spanish from them and from my spanish class.

The only thing that would bother me is my own ignorance of Spanish. Reason being, that I might feel self-consciense thinking people are saying things about me because I don't understand it. If I knew Spanish, it would not bother me in the least b/c I love to party. We have Mexican rodeos all the time where I live and it is so much fun but I can't understand a word that they are saying.

I'm white and my boyfriends have been black no Latino but I never felt uncomfortable about going to their house. I guess I always knew that the family accepted me and never felt uncomfortable...
