Dogs are dogs and they just act what they are - dogs! If a dog has a dominant nature, it will try and dominate the other dog. It really doesn't matter who is boss in your dogs lives, as long as you humans are dominant over them! If you try and sort them out your way - you might make it worse. If they are both the same sex and both dominant, you will have problems! In that case, you may have to have the less dominant of the two neutered.

It all depends on how you train and socialize it. I have a jack russell...really sweet and never aggressive towards other dogs. She used to play with a pit bull puppy her age.....she never let the pit bull dominate her. Jack russells are fearless and will jump up towards the pit bull and be really playful. Since they were both puppies they got along great
I don't think a pit will start acting more like a jack though. I wouldnt be suprised if the jack russell was more dominate...I don't think that's a bad thing....as long as they are not aggressive ever towards each other.

You are looking at it from how humans sort things out. Dogs who are dominant-aggressive, do not sort things out. They will just assume control and neither will back down. Even as puppies, dogs can have the dominant behavior. So it doesn't matter how old your jack russell is.
Dogs who live together should be able to share things, including you and toys and food. If they are unable to do this, then there is a problem with leadership. Meaning one or both of them think they are in control. The way to prevent or solve this problem is to take control of them. Let them know who is the boss. Nip the dominant behavior in the bud, because if you don't things will escalate and someone might get hurt.

Um... it depends on how dominant the Terrier and pit bull are.
Odds are more likely that if the pit is a puppy then the Terrier would be dominant. However, if they are both adults age doesn't mean a thing.
The pit bull would act like a dog either way. And their are aggressive dogs of all breeds. I think you shouldn't have to worry about any of them.
PS: If they aren't very friendly toward each other right away take them both on a walk before letting them in the house. Always works with our doggy guests.
And remember try to treat the dominant dog like it is the dominant dog. Try to feed it/ greet it before the other dog.

The pit being a puppy?? It all depends of their personalities. I think in a household over many years the alpha male role can go back and forth between the dogs. Old age, injury, etc. can cause one dog to lose its alpha male role. The Pit may also grow up and decide to challenge your Jack Russell, then it could end up in a fight, or your Jack Russell might be willing to give up his role without much of a fight? No one can tell you for sure what will happen.

The law of the pack says the strogest will lead. so if the jack russell stands his ground and shows the pitbull that he is top dog he will be dominate. And he will always act like a jack russell.

Ultimately their own personalities determine which is the more dominant dog. Usually the older dog is the one who is in charge, but if that dog is especially submissive, the younger one may take over when it matures.
Breed-specific behaviors are pretty hardwired into the dog's brain. The Pit will likely act like a Pit, though it might mimic some of your Jack's behaviors.

If the JRT is a dominant personality and the pit is a submissive, then the JRT will still be dominant. However, if both are Alpha personalities, you may have some problems coming - especially if they are the same sex. MANY pit bulls specialists will not allow pits to go to homes that have same sex dogs. Meaning, a female pit cannot go to a home with a female JRT. JRTs can be quite territorial and possesive as well - they are terriers through and through.
Your JRT will probably continue to act like a JRT. The pit, however, may pick up some of the JRT's behaviours. My pup picked up some behaviours from the in-law's sheltie and has picked up others from our cat.

which ever is the male...the puppies normally take after the father...but now that isn't in every case! I have a St.Bernard/Paranese mix! She looks just like her mom which is a St. Bernard and acts like her dad! Both are pure breed also! But in you case more than likely the jack Russell pro bally would be dominate! Hope I helped! It depends on the dog...they all have different personalities just like humans. I heard sometimes the sex of the animal makes a difference, also. I have a female Boston Terrier, 3 years old and a male German Shepherd, 1 years old. He is more than 3 times her weight, but she is still the boss.
Well, as I turn my head from the computer here is a real good exp ample right now. My little Sweet Pea is chewing on a bone...Shadow (the big boy) is sitting right beside her. He wants it sooooo bad. He has already finished his. He could rip her in half, but he won't.
