I am fixing rigate soup with italian sausage and garden vegetables. I put sauerkraut in it by accident. (I have three kids, grabbed the wrong can). How can i drown out the flaver, or do you suggest anything else? Help, don't want to waste it.

Throw in some raw unsalted butter. The fat should help dull the acidity of the saurkraut. Also, overcooking the soup may help to burn off the vinegar.

In any case, I'd start a Plan B in my head.

It might not be as bad as you think. After all, sauerkraut is just fermented cabbage, and , if memory serves me correctly, some italian soups call for cabbage( but not fermented ) . You can cut the acidity of the sauerkraut by adding 1/4 cup of sugar to it. You can also add 1/2 cup of parmesan or asiago cheese too.
Be warned, you may have stumbled onto something new in the culinary community. Wouldn't it be strange if this became something you could make aot of money from??

Guess you have taste tested already if you want to "drown" out the flavor. try using a spoon strainer to remove some of the sauerkraut...could try adding sugar..sounds like it might be sorta good tho..otherwise open the kids a can of chicken noodle or something .. just for today or fix some grilled cheese sandwiches for them ...until tomorrow when you can try again......Good Luck

It is ruined. Please do not torture your kids with something so nasty. It is a small price to pay. Otherwise everyone will always talk about that time you made sauerkraut soup. You will be a laughing stock after they get over hating you for it.
