Hair loss during adolescence can mean a person's sick or maybe just not eating right. Some medications or medical treatments, like chemotherapy treatment for cancer, also cause people to lose their hair. And people can even lose their hair if they wear a hairstyle that pulls on their hair for a long time, such as braids.

Losing hair can be stressful during a time when appearance really matters, but the good news is that hair loss that happens during the teen years is often temporary. Once the problem that causes it is corrected, the hair usually grows back.

Here are common causes of hair loss:

1. Seasonality. You'll lose the most hair in the fall -- typically November and December when hair reaches maturity in its growth cycle.

2. Diet. Hair loss can occur through poor dieting, tight ponytails, even with age. Iron deficiency may be the cause, it might be worth checking your levels with your doctor & take a supplement if they're low.

3. Pregnancy- Some women experience hair loss with pregnancy or as part of post-pregnancy hormonal changes. Other women experience hair loss when going on or off (usually off) the birth control pill.

4. Illness- Sometimes it happens as a result of illness. Even stress, excessive weight loss, iron deficiency & thyroid problems can cause hair loss.

If you're really worried, ask your doctor, however, experts say you really only need to worry if your part is getting wider or you can see your scalp through your hair. But don't worry, not all hair loss is permanent. There is a specialty doctor called a 'trichologist,' an expert in hair problems. You can make an appointment and ask the doc for a diagnosis.

Eating a balanced, healthy diet is important for a lot of reasons, and it really benefits your hair. And don't forget to treat your hair well. For example, some doctors recommend using baby shampoo, shampooing no more than once a day, and lathering gently. Don't rub your hair too vigorously with a towel, either. Many hair experts suggest you consider putting away the blow-dryer and air drying your hair instead. If you can't live without your blow-dryer, try using it on a low heat setting.

Style your hair when it's dry or damp. Styling your hair while it's wet can cause it to stretch and break. And try to avoid teasing your hair, which can also cause damage. Finally, be careful when using chemicals — such as straighteners or color — on your hair

dont wear your hair in a pony tail when you go to bed. Wear it in a loose braid if it had to be up, dont rub your hair in a towel to dry it, squeeze it in the towel. Use a comb and not a brustled or wire brush, Use leave in conditioners and hydrating hair masques (like conditioner but thinker and in a small round bottle, look at walmart, dove-garnier) also if you style your hair, dont blow dry, take a shower at night if you dont have time in the morning, then you can flat iron or curl in the morning, save time. those are the best steps.Oh, and keep in mind you loose like 100 hairs a day, losing those hairs wont keep it from getting long, now if your hair is damaged and breaking in half, then concider going to the salon and getting ot cut to a health point, then do the steps i stated above, and you should be on your way to long healthy hair. :) good luck

First off, consider what you eat and what products you use on your hair. If its damaged already, you may have to cut it short and start all over. Do u color at home? if so, its damaged. The products are damaging it. You need to either start all over fresh at a good salon.. and then grow it out. Or, start using organic products that will nourish your hair from the inside out. Mayo, olive oil, and eggs are all good to use, you can make a great home mask with those products to soften it up. Its natural for 100 strands to come out but any more than that per day, and your in trouble with vitamin deficiency or color processed damaged hair. Good luck:)

I consider I might have the identical challenge. Within the bathe, after I comb my fingers through my hair, I get a whole bunch of strands wrapped round my fingers. I in finding lengthy blonde hairs all over my back and clothes as well. I've asked the women who reduce my hair, and they've mentioned Nexxus, and different shampoos that aid with getting a healthy scalp. It could also have anything to do with a activity you take part in...? I am on a swim crew, and my cap pulls on my hair at all times. But also hold in intellect that we lose round one hundred-a hundred and fifty hairs per day! You and i would simply lose them all whilst, and don't shed any longer for the period of the day...

Maybe u could just stop thinking about ur hair falling down because if u keep on thinking of that then it might actually fall down. i hear that if hair falls down it means that then more hair will grow but that doesn't have to be true.

Another thing is that u get one of those pills or shampoo that help u with the hair loss.

If u want to let it grow it will provably fall down more because if the hair is short less hair falls down.

GOOD LUCK

Maintain a healthy diet, drink tons of water, avoid stress and use products made with niacin. They are sometimes hard to find but most beauty supply stores have it.

Here is some info

http://www.holisticonline.com/Remedies/Hair/hair_loss-nutrition.htmstores have them.

If you cannot stop losing your hair I suggest seeing a doctor there may be an underlying condisiton that is the cause.

1) When you shower (and you should shower every day), only shampoo and condition your hair every OTHER day, and condition every day. It's a lot less painful on your hair, trust me.

2) Wear your hair down often, so as not to tightly bind it with your ponytail holders. This will pull your hair from your scalp and cause it to fall.

3) Try to use less tools on your hair, such as curlers, curling irons, or straighteners. These can damage your hair, and straighteners can pull your hair from the scalp.

Make sure you wash your hair once every week. Condition it as well. Every other week, deep condition it too. Also dont always blow dry it, especially if you use a curling or flat iron. Let your hair air dry, especially since its getting hotter outside. Make sure you oil your hair, but dont overdo it.

If your hair is falling out, go get a cut. Make sure your ends are trimmed every six weeks.

If you are really stressed you will lose more hair than normal. But it is normal to lose about 100 strands a day. If you don't brush it or comb it daily it may seem as though you are losing more some days than others.
Maybe you should contact your doctor if it is that bad.
