So okey, my dvd has stopped working, i dunno whats wrong with it, but nothing happens when you push the buttons, and when you stick in the movie, it says ; "Cannot play file" or "Cannot play disc" or something like that.

Anyone know what to do?

Does this happen with all disks? Or just one?

If it's just one, then it's the DVD. Might be scratched.

If it's many, you might have a dirty lens. There are kits that you can buy that you can try. If this doesn't work, you might need a pro to take apart the device and do a cleaning.

Or, it could be failed electronics. In which case, you WILL need a repair. Or, what you might find, is that a new machine will cost less than repair. These days, a DVD player costs under $50 and it's possible to find off-brands for under $20. No way you'll get a repair for that. True, it's not Sony...

Check your connections, on the player if the player is not working then you might take and see what kind of t.v. you have you may need to get a modulator for your t.v. and if that's not the case then you need to call Sony and have them walk you thought the connection of your player to the t.v if you are playing a disc that you copied from another person then you might need to get the disc finalized from that person. because , it can only be finalized with the system they used.

Maybe you have to have the DVD system cleaned. There are DVD's out there (I can't remember where you buy them - maybe at Walmart) and they will clean out the DVD so it would be easier to run and it will take under 10 minutes to do so. If this isn't the case, maybe the DVD movie is dirty and you have to clean it to make it run easier.

yeah that guy is right it's proably your lens is dirty, i always open up my cd and dvd payers and clean the laser lens myself it's pretty easy as long as u can reach it, just gently wipe it off with a shirt or somthing (dont use liquids or anything) works for 98% of the time. if dont know how the laser looks it's like a little glass ball
