Every car I get behind has an advertisement on it that tells me where they bought their vehicle. I think the dealerships should pay for that advertising. Or drop the price by $1,000.00. Something. Next time I buy a car, I'm going to insist they not put on the sticker. Has anyone had any hassels over this with a salesman? Anyone agree? Disagree?

I agree with you100%. If I am going to be paying some rediculous price over the next few years just to have a car to get back and forth to work, I dont want to advertise for the car company. When I bought my last car, I insisted that they remove any stickers, magnets and licence plate covers from the car before I would remove it from the lot. The sales man said to me "well this is so you will remember where you purchased the car". I told him to either remove the stickers or I would take my business elsewhere. My car only had 30,000 miles on it when I bought it, but I found out that they had put a sticker on my car to cover a large scratch and this is why I was given a problem. I also made them detail the car before I would take it because I called them dishonest. If you are firm with them, they will remove any tags and logos, and if they have damaged the vehicle with their stickers they will fix the repair free of charge for you. They need to make their money to feed their families... so remember your the customer, and you are always right or your business will go right to the lot next door to buy your next car. Good Luck.

I'm one of those people salesmen hate. I go in and look at cars and test-drive them on weekends. And usually when they start to talk about getting me to buy the car halfway during the test-drive, I see just for kicks how low I can get them to go on the price. I was test driving this VW and there was a dealership plaque on the back of the car. I made such a stink the salesman said he would have the rear trunk lid replaced with one from a car that did not have one and take $500 off the price. If you're willing to walk-out after a couple hours, you can get a salesman to do almost anything.

My 11th grade current events teacher had a field day w/ this subject in class one day! (Mind you, this was 11 yrs ago.) He had the same issue and since the dealership refused to take off the sticker, he was able to talk down the price of the car until they removed it. Unfortunately, they didn't remove it, but he was able to knock off some $$ of the total cost of the car. They make over $4000 in profit for each car they sell, so why should we, as the consumers, have to pay for their advertising? If you refuse to buy the car unless they compensate you in some way, they'll do whatever it takes to ensure you don't walk out the door and give your business to someone else. Power to the People!

i do not think anyone has the right to deface your property which the car is. if you insist the dealer will remove the sticker. if for some reason they will not a hairdryer will soften up the sticker and it will peel off with no problem. in the case of a plate frame, just take it off and turn it over, it makes a nice border for your plate.

you people are getting a little too worked up over something very minor. Most dealers don't even use stickers, just the plate frames. In either case, just ask, and they will not put anything on the car. You don't need to yell, complain, *****, moan etc. just ask and it's done.

years ago when I had enough money to pay for a new car(1965), i told them i would not buy it if they put a chrome emblym on it(pre sticker days). they really argued but finally gave in... Some dealers have really ugly, cheap things that I dont think anyone should allow.

I agree with you but good luck trying to get them to pay for it. Just take a razor and scrape it off before you drive off the lot. That aught to piss them off :D

I always take them out, sometimes they have it printed on the number plate as well. Bit of a cheek really.

I tell them to remove it and let them know that I will give my large check to another dealership is they won't.
