I finished a 10-day course (1 pill, 4 times a day) of 300mg Penicillin V five days ago, and my digestive system still seems screwed up. Is this normal? If so, how long might my system be screwed up for? I normally don't have adverse reactions to antibiotics, but I just don't feel right yet.

I have seen a doctor about this, and he says there is nothing unusual (everything feels fine, and urinalysis came back clean).

Antibiotics kill off the good flora that live in your digestive tract as well as the bad bacteria that make you sick. The best thing to do is go to the health food store and buy some good probiotics.Prefferably freeze dried or refrigerated.(not the sweetened chewable kind, these arent much good) With both acidophilus strains(good for small intestines) and bifidus strains (good for the large intestines). Many informed doctors now recomend people to take these probiotics while on antibiotics and then either half again as long, or until you use up the bottle. Its best to take them now to avoid more problems later

Yup, yogurt works great!

Next time you get need an antibiotic, try asking for something other than penicillin. Also, take the antibiotic with a meal or at least a glass of milk.
