Go to the local florsit (or a neighbours garden!), buy yourself a rose and do the following. My husband did this for me and it really melted my heart! I came home from work to a bath surrounded by candles, with a trail of rose petals leading to the bath and more petals floating on the water. There was a galss of pink bubbly wine on the side of the bath too. While I relaxed in the bath, he cooked a meal. I then came down to a candle lit dinner.
You say you don't have much spare cash so the meal doesn't have to be anything extravagant - it's an old saying, but it is the thought that counts. Make your boyfriend feel special for the evening and show him how much he means to you. I certainly felt special lying in a bath surrounded by petals.
Hope you decide on something good and have yourselves a lovely evening.

Everything should not have to boil down to extra money.......
what about a picnic in a secluded place? or a park?
You could cook his favorite meal. Unplug the phone, and cuddle in front of the television. Last valentine Day I hung hearts above the bed with little sayings on them of what how special he is to me, some were made of extra constuction paper, some were made of newspaper. He loved it, but I have a guy who enjoys the little/simple things in life. Our first date was watching the birds fly in an open field while we ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and drank kool-aid out of plastic wine glasses. GOOD LUCK

The same happened with my boyfriends 18th at the start of the month - together 2 years, live together, no money

So i made him something nice for tea, didn't let him help, did the dishes, got in a botle of wine, and basically ran around after him all night doing nice things. i didn't ask him to lift a finger, and anything he wanted to watch on TV we watched and i didn't winge, and then did exactly what he told me in the bedroom later
