We typically don't follow an Anxiety/Depression interview format at the start... typically there are a series of questions that leads to a particular area and then we begin to hone in quickly (usually within 3-5 minutes). Once we hone in we begin to ask more structured and specific questions such as:
** Have you lost interest in pleasurable activities
** Has there been any recent change in your sleep or eating pattern
** Can you describe the sensation you get when ___ happens (anxiety question)
** Have there been any life changes lately? What feelings come to mind when you think about this?
**Have you experienced any of the following lately:
# Restlessness or feeling keyed up or on edge
# being easily fatigued
# irritability
# muscle tension
# sleep disturbance (difficulty falling or staying asleep, or
restless unsatisfying sleep)
# difficulty concentrating or the mind going blank

A good clinician will make you feel very comfortable and ask questions that should not cause anxiety or stress. The interview is generally 45 minutes long. Good Luck... relax and enjoy the experience as it can be fascinating if done by a good clinician.

I just went through one with a doctor about 1 1/2 months ago. He asked me why I felt that I had a problem with anxiety and depression. I was nervous, but had played it out in my mind several times. He also asked if there is anxiety and depression in my family. I was put on celexa, and while I still have some anxiety about things, I do feel much better. My depression is gone and I can go places and do things I couldn't before.
Congratulations on taking the first step - making the appointment! It took me over 1 1/2 years to do that. Good luck on finding a medication that suits you and dealing with the side affects (they do eventually go away...)!

Social anxiety can cause these feelings, which can also lead to severe depression,
http://www.socialanxietyinstitute.org/ds...

if not you could be suffering from Generalized Anxiety
Disorder..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/general_anx...

There is hope; I've been there, and still am there, it is a long, hard struggle. I recommend
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cognitive_b... worked best for me, with mild anti-anxiety meds. I suffered from social anxiety for over 15 years. I've tried individual therapy, and group therapy and studied psychology for 10 years, as a profession, but also with the hope to cure myself.

Depending on your comfort level, you could go to a psychologist that practices CBT and specializes in anxiety disorders, seek a group therapy, or create one. Usually those that do attend the group therapy are a bit more high functioning because as you know, it can be difficult to speak in a group.

Another idea is to see if there are any local research studies being conducted that you could participate in.

The program that finally worked the best for me is this one: http://www.socialanxiety.us/findinghelp.... and I was lucky enough to have a structured behavioral group to go along with it. Sometimes the people that actually attend this program come back home and form groups.

I recommend a mild anti-anxiety med in addition to CBT therapy.

Any questions, let me know ... I can't tell you how much this has improved my life!

Has your melancholy required time without work in poor health? If it has and you do not claim it whilst exceptionally requested or you do not divulge at the style approximately important illness absence you then might be sacked if the business enterprise reveals out. If you have not wanted time without work paintings, it is not a crisis. But a fake statement is and you'll be within the fallacious if it turns into an trouble. Look for recommendation on the internet sites of charities like Mind and Rethink on those problems. Best wants

First, they ask questions-you answer honestly.
Then they may give you one that you have to fill out yourself.

Sometimes, the doc just makes their assessment by talking to you, to see what your situation is, how you are feeling about it, what is going on in your life, your job, your family.
There are many factors involved with getting a good and proper diagnosis.

It is painless, and virtually harmless.
-Like taking a pop quiz in school that you later find out didnt count anyhow.

Just remember, be honest with them, they can't help you
if you don't help them first.
Good luck to you, you'll be fine

I work for a psychologist. He'll talk to you for 1 hr on the first visit and 1 hr at the second. He'll ask questions like
1 how are you
2 what u do for a living
3 what u do for fun
4 the first thing you think about in the morning
5 what consumes you the most
6 how do you react to certain situations in your life

and so on. don't worry too much. they're just making sure you are okay and usually talking about it helps.

lol. its not a big deal. Questions are like how frequently do you not do something because of anxiety.. or has there been a drastic change in your sleep cycle? they are all general questions that dont involve much thought so no need to worry about messing up or anything.
