The other night I noticed that there's a really hard lump behind my left ear. It's so hard it feels like bone, and it's fixed in position. It doesn't hurt but it's a little sore now because I've been touching it so much.
I'm getting extremely worried because based on the stuff I looked up, this doesn't sound good. I tend to worry a lot about my health a lot though, and I don't want to look like a fool going to see the doctor for this if it's nothing.

By the way, it seems like it's attached to the bone and is under the skin, it's not on top of it like a sore or something

I hear ya. I worry about every little thing that goes on with my body. However, worrying about it and taking action is better than forgetting about it.
Most likely it's nothing. Our bodies forms little lumps all over for no reason, and 95 percent of the time, their just abnormal growths.
However, if you're concerned, you shouldn't be ashmed to see the doctor. It's your body, and you would know better than anyone if something's not right. Most likely the doctor will feel it, and he/she might order an MRI or X-ray if they think it's something to worry about. These are painless procedures, and are just more annoying than anything. Doctors take extra precaution to rule out everything because it's their job, but it's also your job to take care of yourself.
My suggestion would be to wait it out for a few weeks to see if it changes in size. If it gets smaller, it was nothing. If it happens to get bigger, then make an appointment with your doctor. Even then, I'm sure it's nothing, and just something you'll have to live with and monitor.

I have a bump behind/under my ear also. It's not like rock hard, but it's definetly not squishy. There are several different things it could be, and you should go to the doctors to see what it is. It could be a swollen lymph node, a cyst, lipoma, or possibly cancer. Just get it checked out, never hide from anything you're unsure of, go get it checked out because the dr. will always help no matter what it is. Remember, better safe than sorry. I'm going to get my lumpy thing checked out tomorrow. I'm guessing that it's related to the cold i just had recently..and still kind of have. The only reason why I'm thinking it's not a swollen lymph node is because it is not painful, or sore at all. Hopefully it's nothing big and will go away on it's own or can be easily removed. I'm worried too lol. Just do something to get your mind off it after you schedule yourself a doctors appointment.

Well I will say that sometimes your glands get so swollen that you will have a lump behind your ear, not always both sides. If it is near your ear lobe, kind of in the creese that runs down to your jaw, it is probably a swollen gland. IT is that time of year where i live. Swollen glands, runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, sore throat they are all coming, due to spring. If it doesn't go down in a few days you can see a doc. don't go extreme, like an ER visit, just your family doc will do, Also, watch for the other symptoms i listed, including pain in the ear. These all tie together. Hope all is good.

If it is a tiny lump, about the size of the head of a matchstick, and just where your ear meets your head, then don't worry. That is quite normal. But your ear area is a place that can have a lot of cyst like things in it, again nothing to worry about, but if i does turn out to be a cyst, you can either leave it or put a hot poultice on it to draw it out.

Have you had your ear pierced? If so, it could be a keloid scar. If not, it may be just as minor as a pimple.
ALSO see a doctor!!
A lump could mean nothing bad, such as a lypoma, which is just a lump caused by skin oils, and is not harmful.
It could also mean something more serious, expecially if it continues to grow.
For your own peace of mind, and to know what it is, see a doctor.
The lump behind your ear could be a sebaceous cyst or a lymph Node. They can take months to reduce or sometimes they stay enlarged

It's probably a swollen lymph node. If you have been sick or congested lately that is probably what it is. If you haven't been sick lately then go to the doctor.
