Because we back our allies, we try to keep our commitments and we got entangled in WW1, WW2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the problems in the Middle East.

After WW2, which was fought to try and solve the unsolved problems of WW1, the 82 Airborne was among the first Western Armies to encounter the Jewish Death Camps. Many Jews had tired to flee to American and other nations before WW2 claiming that they were being oppressed in Germany. The US and most other nations turned them back. As a result of that the Allies felt a great sense of guilty over the horrors of the Holocaust. The US had done nothing to start it; we had just condemned a lot of people to it.

In the peace settlements that followed the war the allies agreed to set up the nation of Israel as a “safe” refuge for those who followed the Jewish faith in their homeland. Of course back then Palestine was a backwater 3rd world nation that most of the world ignored, so they weren’t consulted in the creation of Israel. If oil had never been discovered in the Middle East then there would be an uneasy peace in the Middle East.

The new nation of Israel was awarded war reparations and they used a lot of that money to buy arms and munitions from Western Nations. They became an excellent customer for US arms, goods and equipment. This formed a strong relationship between the US and Israel. Of course even into the 1990s many US officials couldn’t spell Israel properly, it just didn’t’ matter.

After WW2 China was now communist and the Soviets refused to give back any of the land they took in the War, so the Cold War started. As part of the temporary settlement of control after WW2 the Communists controlled North Korea, and North Vietnam. The division was supposed to be temporary, but the Soviets had different ideas; they clamed that they were going to take over the entire world and convert it all to communism. During the Space Race they even discussed the possibility of painting the moon red!

So when the Russians took over Afghanistan, and started supplying arms and material equipment to Egypt, Iran, Syria and other nations in the Middle East. The US and her allies saw this as an attempt by the Soviets to take over the Middle East. When oil was discovered in the Middle East then that part of the world suddenly became very important.

At the time the US had only two allies in the region, Iran and Israel whom was hated by all in the Middle East. So the US supported the Shaw of Iran, who was a dictator as brutal as Sadam Hussein was. In the 1970s the Shaw was ill and he took his family and fled to the US leaving no government behind. Rather than face a civil war between the Shiites and the Sunnis the nation of Iran turned to religious rule and so came the age of the Ayatollahs and the first Ayatollah of Iran Khomeini.

The US supported the Shaw and so they were blamed for helping to maintain his brutal rule. The Iranians hated Israel and because the US supported them the Iranians thought that Israel was a puppet of the US. So in the eyes of the Iranians the US is their mortal enemy. This is why they want a nuclear program so they can “sell” their bombs to terrorist organizations that will use them against the US. In the twisted minds of the Iranians they suspect that the major reason for the US invasion of Iraq is so they can establish bases to invade Iran. Under their religious rulership Iran now feels that it wants to re-form the ancient empire of Persia, which was the largest civilization before the Romans. As part of this empire they would control most of the Middle East and as a sworn enemy of the US they are going to become an even more powerful foe to the US and her Allies.

France is famous for its isolation. They had the most oil wells in the Middle East before the US and the British got started. They have a good relationship with Iran and for the cheap price of oil they have forgotten the fact that the US pulled them out of some very deep and very hot water twice. We also got involved in the Vietnam War to help the French.

So the US backs Israel and they are looking for any allies that they can get in the region. Saudi Arabia was worried about Iran. After the disastrous attempted invasion of Iran they thought they were next on the list and since Kuwait lies on their common border the invasion of Kuwait only reinforced those fears. When the US offered help they gladly took it and when the US offered to continue to help defend Saudi Arabia they accepted. Of course the terrorists took that as another excuse to attack the US claiming that two of Islam’s most important shrines are in Saudi Arabia so the US is trying to control them. The US isn’t, and its bases are no where near those cities, they don’t even allow their non-Muslim citizens to visit those cities.

This country was founded on Christian principles and our President is also a Christian. The Bible commands Christian's to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and He will bless those who bless Israel.
