For my sins (even though I haven't commited any).
Atheist etc...
Won't I simply pass out - or get used to the pain after 2 hours? Won't the nerve endings be destroyed etc?

Those vindictive enough to imagine God is vindictive enough to do those would say God is vindictive enough to keep your suffering eternally vivid and horrible. And they would probably only want to give the imagine a passing thought because it creeps even them out... and raises questions about what they imagine God to be.

Actually, you have a very valid question and point.

Those above who said your spirit will burn and there is no body are incorrect, and probably should re-evaluate their Christian faith.

At the Rapture, or 2nd coming of Christ, all the dead will rise and live again restoring their complete being (body, mind, and spirit) and will be given immortal or eternal life. At that point Christ separates the faithful and the sinners and designates their places in Heaven or in Hell. Then with the blink of an eye, the faithful are assumed into Heaven and the sinners are assumed into Hell.

So as we can see the body is in fact resurrected and therefore whilst in Hell, the person's body will burn but it would be so hot that, yes, the nerve endings would instantaneously be destroyed and you would instantly pass out from the heat. And from there the body would burn into nothing and you would cease to exist. However since you were given eternal life, you would most likely be on eternal "repeat" and essentially you would never feel a thing.

Of course you would feel grief, pain, sorrow, guilt, etc... but again, you would be on eternal repeat of a process that lasts about .0000000000001 seconds. So no worries!

Thats damnation and hell-fire in a nutshell for ya.

What they are afraid to tell you is that, every 15 minutes choc-ices and Lager tops, are delivered to all who feel the heat. The waitresses are young `loose` Hollywood starlets. The only time the Devil ( you call him `Dee`) prods anything, is at the weekly barbecue ( vegetarians catered for) when things get a bit warm. Otherwise Dee controls the air-con to 65-75F, dependent on whether we are playing cricket that day. PS, cigars are compulsory, what harm can they do? This is a small extract from the lost Gospel of Eric, the one `they` tried to hide !

Well, let me give you the Jewish point of view on it. Jews don't believe in hell. There isn't even a place called hell in our Torah. We also do not believe that we are all "born in sin" but rather that we are born with a clean slate, and with the inborn ability to choose to walk the selfish destructive path, or the unselfish constructive path. We have something called Gehinnom, which was originally just a garbage dump outside Jerusalem which burned continually, but was likened to a place our souls can go after we die where we can "burn off" any sins we have committed in our lifetime - it is NOT a permanent thing, it IS quite painful because it is actually feeling the pain you caused as a result of any sins that you committed against yourself and others. It is also necessary for the soul to understand and make rectification in the form of asking forgiveness and vowing never to commit those sins again - indeed, to live as sin free as possible in our next life. Yes, Jews have always had reincarnation, it is a foundation of our belief, and by "our" belief, I mean traditional, Orthodox Jewish belief from the beginning of Judaism until now. In other words, WE are responsible for the rectification of our own sins (which was NEVER the role of the Messiah in Judaism, but is purely a Christian idea), and WE are responsible for not committing them again. We require NO mediator between us and God as we believe that everyone is able to and absolutely must communicate with God. "You shall have no other gods before me" doesn't just mean that we aren't to worship something other than God, for us it also means literally that we are to put NOTHING before, in front of, God that we have to go through to get to God. This is idolatry to us, and forbidden. This is also NOT the role of the Messiah in Judaism, as it is in Christianity. So, we don't have such a thing as burning in hell for all eternity, we have reincarnation. Besides the "burning off" of our sins, which afterwards we leave that place and reincarnate once again, we also can reincarnate according to what we created within ourselves during our previous lifetimes - and did not "burn off" by choice. If we hated homeless people, for instance, and didn't burn off that sin or make amends with the homeless during our lifetime and stop hating, then we have caused a great blemish on our souls which MUST be fixed, so we may choose to return as a homeless person in order to better understand what it's like, and so that we ourselves may be the object of hatred and scorn - and this would be the "burning off" of our sin for hating the homeless. At that point we can either not learn from this and continue our idiocy, in which case our soul will choose to repeat the homeless experience once again possibly under even worse circumstances, or we will be reborn with compassion towards the homeless and help them in whatever ways we are able. This is the Jewish way, and always has been, not some "burning in an endless lake of fire". For more about what Jews actually believe, visit http://www.jewfaq.com or http://www.jewsforjudaism.com or http://www.askmoses.com . So many Christians think that the things their religion is based on come from Judaism when they don't, not at all, but rather come from other ancient pagan religions who had those concepts. For a good understanding of this, go to http://www.drazin.com and begin reading at the top where it says "Introduction" and continue until you've read all the chapters. And your eyes will definitely be opened.

silly question. No such place as Hell and therefor no burning in it.
You've comitted so called load of sins, but the fact that you think you haven't committed any says it all. Go for it hun. Carry on committing sins as long as you learn from them.

1. Hell is prepared for the devil and his angels, and not humans.

2. Without the gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus you cannot live eternally anywhere, let alone in hell.

3. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

4. God was in Christ Jesus, reconciling the world unto Himself.

No because only you soul goes to hell, your body dies and therefore can't feel a thing so hell and heaven may as well be the same thing. Clearly, you can see the flaw in the what the bible bashers think!

That is a good question....

Some people believe hell is really the grave, and that you don't burn in a lake of fire for all eternity, you just cease to be.
It sounds more reasonable than burning non-stop till the end of time.

Personally, I believe in a loving God and it is hard for me to reconcile that he would allow someone to burn forever for the sins of 60-80 years. I guess we'll see at the end.

Apparently you are in sin cause we all was born and shaped in inquity. Thinking you will be burning in hell then what are you doing wrong. Illogical question cause every part of you will be destroyed.

You won't have nerve endings or the ability to pass out. You're body will have died. It's your soul that lives on.

Those in hell will probably experience other pains besides simply "burning." I always thought more along the lines of emotional pain and guilt. Sadness, lonliness, regret, etc.

I'd rather not explore further though. :)
