The definition of Mormon means "more good." It is a name used by an ancient American prophet in whose name the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is equated.

Note: The tablets that were compiled by Mormon were simply a collection of his people's histories, both secular and non-secular. After they were translated into English did the name Book of Mormon come into being.

Guitarpicker repeated a statement attributed to Joseph Smith during his translation of the Book of Abraham papyri or his re-translation of the Bible. He claimed it was a egyptian-hebrew word. Of course, it was Bullcrap.
The Book of Abraham has been correctly translated as a common funerary prayer, 'Mor-Mon' is not found in any hebrew or egyptian vocabulary, and the mormons NEVER refer to anything JS translated in his Bible.

Originally called Morons by the wise local natives, the M was later added because God talked to someone late at night during some crazy vision- just like when blacks were suddenly allowed by God into the priesthood. BAM! Now that's enlightenment.. :)
