I have an 8 month old collie cross female, and she is toilet trained (pretty much) she will go in the garden. However, as soon as both myself & my partner are out she decides that the sofa is the best place to go to the toilet. We provide her with newspaper and it seems she is aware that it's to be used for doing the toilet so I don't understand why she has now chose the sofa & I can't think of a way of getting her to stop. Any advice on this is greatly appreciated! Thanks to everyone in advance for reading this!

Hi, I know that they sell a "deterrent" spray that you can actually spray directly on your couch. You can get it at any pet store!
Good luck!

Oh my goodness! First of all, you are going to have to make sure you get ALL of the urine scent out of the sofa, or she will always go there. Second of all, never leave her unattended. If you have to leave her, put her in a place with no furniture she can get on and no carpet and put down plenty of pee pads. I put my dogs in my bathroom when I leave the house. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!!

Keep a closer eye on your dog and take her outside as soon as signs of needing to go appear. You'll need to throughly clean your sofa and get all scent of urination out of the upholstery.

You should not leave your puppy alone in the house when you leave. Dogs should be kenneled when you leave the house. They should not be left to roam the house until they are atleast a yr and 1/2 almost 2yrs old!
She is trying to get back at you is what she is doing...separation anxiety!
kennel her when you are gone!

Your dog is rebelling. I suggest putting your dog in a crate when you are not home. This will also prevent further damage to your things like chewing!

The best thing for you and the dog is to crate train her. Most dogs will not go in their crates.

Cause you are confusing her.. Sometimes she has to go outside to pee, and sometimes you allow her to pee on the newspaper. Outside is the only answer when it comes to peeing and pooping! Crate her while you are gone, then she can't go on the couch.
