I'm with you. Global Warming/Climate Change is not as big a problem as some would like you to believe. A recent article in the New York Times has even asked Al Gore to stop all the hype:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/13/science/13gore.html?_r=1&oref=slogin That same article talks about Al Gore's claim that the oceans could rise 20 feet is exaggerated by 18.08 FEET! The latest UN study on the subject says the seas could rise a MAXIMUM of 23 inches. Al was only 18.08 FEET off. That, my freind IS hype...

If you look up any global temperature chart on the net, you'll find the earth's temperature has only increased by about 6/10 of one degree (C) - that's 1.1 degree (F), in the last 125 years. So yes, the globe is warming up, but it's not overheating like some would have you to believe. http://data.giss.nasa.gov:80/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif

The latest research shows that the methane from cows and pigs is a major factor in the increase of "heat trapping gas". It's actually 23 times more potent as a heat trapping gas than is carbon dioxide. http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/climate-change/science/other_gases According to the newest UN report on Global Warming, "Livestock are responsible for 18 per cent of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming, more than cars, planes and all other forms of transport put together." http://news.independent.co.uk:80/environment/article2062484.ece

So if Al Gore and all the alarmists really want to do something about climate change, they MUST become vegetarians and shut down cow and pig farms. I mean seriously, if they truly believe that global warming is as disastrous as they are preaching then they need to stop eating meat, period! I doubt that will happen. If not, then they are the hypocrites that some of us already suspect they are.

Also Al Gore preaches to you to conserve, but he does not practice it himself. He uses 20 times more energy in his Nashville mansion than the national average. http://www.tennesseepolicy.org/main/article.php?article_id=367
One thing he has not learned is that you MUST practice what you preach... at some point you will get caught as he has.

Global warming is Real! Everyone been taking this issue seriously, it has been in the newspaper, and T.V! Everyone probably notice the weather changes like last summer extremely hot weather, even winters are colder. There been increased in wildfires and drought, which been destroy the ecosystem, and cause more extinction of animal and plants. I hear it took about 1.5 billion dollar just to rid wildfire! And probably heard about the glacier melting and sea level has been rising because the Carbon dioxide and other gases that have been trapping the sun heat in earth's atmosphere. This problem was caused by burning fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil and clearing forests from humans' and it our responsibility to do something about. We all have to cooperate in this world effect. Not only for ourselves but well being of our children. It not hoax, for the bush admiration and Fossil Fuel Company have been both denial and toning down climate change (global warming) so won’t seem as bad and there doing for money over well be of people as well as planet. Diease will increase and animal do keep balance in this world.

Why is it so hard to believe that all the crap we're putting in the atmosphere is going to cause problems? It seems like people have a natural tendency to deny anything negative, especially when it has consequences as dramatic and far-reaching as global warming will bring.

It's simple science. Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere traps some outgoing heat. We emit lots of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Look at it in terms of a structured argument.

1. Atmospheric carbon dioxide works as a greenhouse to keep earth warm by trapping heat. (not disputed)
2. More carbon dioxide in the atmosphere means more heat trapped (not disputed).
3. Mankind is emitting huge amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. (not disputed)
THEREFORE
4. Mankind is directly responsible for some kind of warming effect on the earth. (undisputable).

The problem with the question asker, and the answerers I've seen so far, is that they seem to think that Al Gore and others are trying to scare people. Fact of the matter is, no one in North America alive today is going to experience very much negative effect from global warming. The PROBLEM, and the one that is far more significant and vital for us to recognize and solve, is that we keep on emitting carbon dioxide into the atomsphere, year after year, and the total CO2 in the atmosphere keeps going up. Let's say (and these numbers are all contrived) this year there is 20 billion tonnes in the atmosphere. That number would correlate with a certain amount of warming, let's call it 20. Then, over the next year we emit 1 billion more tonnes into the atmosphere. Then, the warming effect is 21. Then, the next year, 23 billion tonnes, and warming effect 23. Do you see what the problem is? It's not that we're going to heat up and boil away in the next 50 years, it's that there is going to be more and more CO2 in the atmosphere, which CAN'T BE TAKEN AWAY AT WILL. The more we stick up there, the faster the earth will warm (even if the effect is small now it is constantly speeding up).

Everyone seems to be a retard when it comes to understanding this. They think "with the amount we emit now, the earth only warms a half degree, big whoop". No, wrong. It warms a half degree now. Then, in 10 years, when there is MORE CO2 in the atmosphere, it will have warmed faster. Then faster. Then faster. Then, it's the end of human civilization as we know it. Not in 50 years. Not even in 200 years. But eventually, since the warming is constant and irreversible (currently), mankind will be unable to live on the Earth, or at the very least, it will be inhospitibale in many, many areas where billions live now.

Wake up. It's real. No, you will not personally suffer from it. But buck up, and don't end up being the generation that your kids look back on and wish had more brains in their head to stop the problem before it became unmanagable.

Stop assuming you know more than the thousands of climate scientists who say IT IS HAPPENING. They are screaming, and you're all plugging your ears.

The scientific consensus (among those who are not schills for the energy industry) is that global warming is partly due to natural effects, but largely caused by human activities.

Most of those who will suffer won't be americans, so we really don't have all that much to worry about. Sure, there are some coastal cities that will suffer problems, beginning a few decades from now. But most of those who will suffer the effects of global climate change will live in China, India, North Africa, Russia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. All places most of us wouldn't mind seeing depopulated, or being able to take economic advantage of.

For the most part North America, Australia, and parts of South America should be fine.

Most of the people that swallow the global warming theory are fundamentally headline readers when you ask them about increase solar activity over the last decade you don't get a coherent answer when you ask them if the earth has warm up and cooled down many times before you will get a yes.

But all of a sudden many believe that we have control over the entire globe talk about an inflated view of our importance on this planet. The truth of the matter if the climate changes we will adapt just like we did in the past.

It seems to be to be a bunch of hot air!! These liberals are always manufacturing problems and theories. Global warming has not been proven and the methods they are suggesting we take are outrageously expensive and impractical! The regulations they want to impose on us would force businesses to take their companies and jobs overseas.

I just have a Super hard time believing that the world is gonna end because of emmisions and aerosol spray can use!!
I think Al Gore is a lot like Chicken Little who kept warning us, "The sky is falling!! The sky is falling!!" Nobody believed the little bird and I see no substantial evidence to believe Gore is saying.

the thousands of people affected and the many that are dead will not agree with you

many people forget about desertification
desserts are like a fire they gobble up the edges with the heat and so grow.

forrests regulate the climate ,they absorb heat during the day and release it at night ,that is why desserts are freezing at night and cooking during the day

Forrests produce water ,and regulate the atmosphere we breathe (the absorb carbon )as well as protecting the earth from the sun
when forrest are being exchanged for ashalt, concrete and desserts
what is gonna keep this planet habitable for us

the carbon production is something else on top
and this seems to ocupy people the most
and the polution is something else again
all are factors in climate change

Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects

this text is limited to effects of people in the country, industrial effects on the environment and the internal combustion engine as well as the over all effects of cities ,is another story

climate change is caused principally by desertification ,and most desertification is caused by man
the thinner ozone layer helps to speed this up.and this is caused mainly by air polution ,also as a result of mans actions

there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert,

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
and there are 70 million more peole every year that have to eat and drink and wash

who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

I think it's a kind of mass hysteria. I like to call it "the penis-melting-robot-comb of the western world". I hear people raving that it's so much hotter this year than a few years ago even though they're standing in feet of snow.

I heard that one of the big global warming protests took place on a day with record-cold temperatures.

here's an explanation of what I mean by the penis-melting-robot-comb:

There's some warming going on but I believe we have little contribution and little control over it. The sun's output is increasing .05% every decade and Mars and Pluto have been shown to be warming up also.
