pedaling isn't as easy as it may seem to us adults. :) my daughter was 4 in dec. and she just starting really pedaling about 3 months ago. i too was getting frustrated, thinking she might be slow at learning, but we just let her play around with her 3 wheeler and eventually she figured it out. he will do it in his own time, don't worry.

Has your son ever had a peddle toy at all? I really dislike training wheels, as they always seemed to go up on at least, one side., making it impossible for the child to get the peddling down. Do his feet really reach the peddles when the peddles are all the way down? If not, have the seat lowered, but, you should check it. Some 3 yr olds love to ride a bike, while others just ARE NOT ready. It is on the edge of being too young, just for safety reasons. This may be a time for getting a large trike, learning to peddle, and to have confidence in the peddling.

My daughter is 4 and she didn't learn until about 3 1/2. Now that she know how, she rides all the time. My 2 1/2 year old son has a bike with training wheels that I just pull him on. Maybe you could start with a tricycle.

My children had training wheels on their bikes and I used Velcro to keep their feet on the pedals. Then I would help them move their legs in the right motion. BUT, you have to make sure you stay right by them, even if they have training wheels, their bike could still tip over and they won't be able to pull their feet out in time to catch themselves. After they got the hang of pedaling I took the Velcro off.
Good Luck!!!

Is it a bike with training wheels??? if it is you can put something like a book or board under the training wheels where there is no resistance when he pedals. put him on and move his legs for him till he gets the hang of it. then try with out the boards.....

Try a big wheel. My son had the same problem at that age. The big wheel was at his level and the seats are adjustable for easier reach.

It totally varies agewise for children. My son is 4 and is just now learning, where my daughter was 2. For some reason what helped it click with my kids is I kept telling them to "push with their feet". For some reason that helped them get the idea of the motion they were supposed to do. HOpe this helps!

bless him! it can be abit hard to get but he will get there. keep going and he will get the grasp of it. my son just used to sit on a bike or trike with his legs astride and kinda walk on it lol. but then he got used to it. i used to put his feet on the pedals and push him from behind so he felt his legs going around and around.
i think its just continuous practise and alot of patience needed. good luck x
