I am scared to take any type of medication, especially pills because I'm afraid I might choke on one! But the main reason I'm so adverse to medication is that I'm afraid I might eat something or take another medicine that will cause a fatal combination! No matter how sick I may be, I'd rather let it go away on its own than take medication for it! And, honestly, I don't remember the last time I was on meds. I'm in college right now and at times I get a bad cold or just really stressed out, and instead of going to the health center, I wait for whatever's ailing me to go away because I'm afraid that if I do go, they'll give me a prescription!

Am I just being delirious or are fatal combinations common? Do you think I need professional help to get over my phobia?

Thanks in advance!

I think you need to educate yourself as to why they happen. Then you'll be ready to make legitimate decisions on when you should. Education will help your fear, you have an unrealistic concern, but i don't think it's a phobia. Alot of people feel that way, maybe not to that extent, but they do. I don't like taking them either, but when you educated yourself, know what to watch for, know what happens if you don't take them, you feel better about it. I have found that learning as much as I can about stuff makes me feel like I have more control, and that really helps the fear.

You are delirious. LOL
Let's say you get a sinus infection. Very common. And it doesn't get better. And you don't go to the doctor and soon you'll have bronchitis. Then there WILL be serious complications. You could have a severe infection-not only in your head but in your chest that will cause breathing problems. Then you'll be in the hospital. A sinus infection is treatable with 1 pill. An antibiotic. They can even give you a liquid so you won't "choke" on it. See? Getting something treated right away IS the way to avoid complications and adverse reactions.

Then STOP taking them.
Take supplements.
