Let's say there's two families stranded on an island. A helicopter comes and only has room for two passengers. Once the helicopter leaves there will be no return. The father of one family gives his only child away. The second father tries to give up his child as well but the child refuses and runs away. Should the second father take his place (assuming the other father cannot go)? What's the difference between the two children? In what ways is the second child more honorable or more stubborn?

Please this is just a stupid hypothetical question. Don't add stuff or question the hypothetical. I was too lazy to make it realistic.

Since the second child ran away, the 2nd father should say, "I'm staying with my son, you go." He should also say, "Go be with your son," so the 1st father recognizes the act as gift and the sacrifice and receives it as a blessing-even though no parent in their right mind would get on a helicopter and leave his child alone on an island.

Your scenario says nothing about the childrens honor or stubborness. The 2nd child simply could not accept being seperated from his father. All children are different. The first child seems braver, but he may be white. It's more difficult for idigenous people (for example) to be seperated from their family.

I don't think it's a question about the child's honorability factor or stubbornness. Both fathers love their children and vice versa... they're just showing their love differently. As for whether the other father should go... that's not up to me, but to keep the child safe, it's something to certainly think about. Would you want YOUR child on a helicopter with strangers that might have issues without someone you know there with him or her?

...Hey Brian !!! I like that answer... now watch this.... If they had a helicopter...they've got a radio too... call for help, don't just abandon anyone... take the seats out...lighten the craft to accommodate more humans and less gear... phooey on leaving anyone back... the question doesn't take in to account of the human spirit to live and how to achieve it !!!

the second child could have run away so his father could go in his place.
