The rapture is when Jesus takes His church (believers in Him) out of the world. The bible says we shall "meet Him in the clouds". This will most likely start the time clock on the seven year tribulation period, the rise of the antichrist. And yes I look forward to it because I will be out of this fallen world and into His pure and holy presence.

Naw baby...only some Christians call it that (or are eager for it), mostly those who think they are the only ones going...they think they are going to be raised up before the final battle and not have to suffer...its mostly evangelicals and pentacostals, the JW's, etc.
And don't feel bad, as a Christian I have wondered if that is why they called it that too.

This form of "Rapture" is defined as "the carrying of a person to another place or sphere of existence." Clearly you have that confused with another reference for that word.

Well, its seems that after the trials and tribulations there will be a new world, I think thats what the excitement is about.
